@RedMoetVB @StreetsblogNYC @DaveCoIon Actually, people who ride the bus and train are paying for your roads, parking spaces, crashes, congestion, and pollution! NYC car users are more heavily subsidized than subway users. If fairness is your goal, drivers should be paying more.

@StreetsblogNYC @DaveCoIon So me as a driver have to pay for the shitty train station. I bought a car so I don’t have to take the train but I still have to pay for it because the people that ride the bus and trains don’t pay.

The Chambers J/Z station is one of the oldest stations in New York City's transit system — and it doesn't look like it's been touched by the MTA since it was built. But thanks to congestion pricing, it's getting a huge upgrade, reports @DaveCoIon.

@dimitrovskyy @StreetsblogNYC could the main approach keep a green/yellow pattern overnight and the eastbound single-lane approach switch to flashing? or perhaps overnight the eastbound approach could default to red until a motion detector is tripped when a car comes to a stop?

@StreetsblogNYC i highly doubt that DOT would consider removing the signal phasis to revert to flashing considering the main approach has multiple lanes. this would make the intersection less safe than it is now as then the issue becomes increase noncompliance

For months, construction has obscured sightlines at the intersection of Franklin and Church in Tribeca — an intersection that's seen three crashes since the fencing went up. DOT got it changed after Streetsblog's Henry Beebe-Center reached out... but is there more to be done?

@JoshuaKDominic I see autonomous vehicles as a first last mile connection to places where transit isn’t feasible and for paratransit, but I don’t see trains going away.

@StreetsblogNYC Progressive totalitarianism. You function as the first wave footsoldiers preparing the ground for the creeping power of Tech. The elites are salivating as they plan to control our every movement. Shame on you for your willful shortsightedness

The super speeders bill is the exact opposite of a "money grab". Most speeding is committed by a small number of repeat offenders. The bill would limit their speed, making it impossible for an individual vehicle to get more than 16 speed camera tickets.
ZC@zcbel31

@NYCMayor Obvious money grab. If you were concerned with repeat super-speeders you would simply suspend their drivers license

@SwiftySanders @StreetsblogNYC this is the bill we have, it isn't perfect, but it would do a lot of good. sure, if someone wants to get 16 tickets and then buy another $30,000 vehicle and get 16 more, they can. but i believe this bill would put a MASSIVE dent in speeding.

@StreetsblogNYC is speeding about the tickets or the individual? Does the super speeder bill include a license suspension as well? What's to stop a super speeder from just using a different vehicle? I don't understand why we can't suspend the Driver's license for a year.

1/ A mostly-masked camera crew was just wandering around an LA farmer's market. Their sole goal seemed to be filming and antagonizing random passersby to try to make them the subjects of viral outrage. If anyone knows who they are please lemme know.

There are a lot of Martys out there, especially in lifestyle brand marketing. The talented but unfocused and insufferable bullshitter who is perpetually dropping names, still referencing collabs they worked on 5 years ago, and shows up to every industry event (somehow always in VIP). They have all of the connects to make things happen and they carry a certain amount of respect, but a quick background/off sheet reference makes it apparent that everyone actually dislikes them or hates their guts. But they are important to the ecosystem because they are good at networking, politics, and have impeccable taste. They go to Tokyo and Seoul three times a year (on a brand’s dime, for “research”), and are photographed annually at Pitti Uomo. They can never hold down a full time job, they are deep in debt, miserable personal life, but the envy of every washed streetwear nerd because they win every social media clout exhibition match there is. Lots of these Marty Supremes in NYC (less so in LA, but also there). Essential to the ecosystem tbh, but they will always feel like a failure bc they have never created, always facilitated someone else’s art and commerce. Etc etc etc.

Most people DO follow the road rules about red lights. Most people DO NOT follow the road rules about speed. For most people, why do you think this is? (a) Lack of knowledge about the dangers of speed (b) People follow social norms 🤔

@enforcelawsNYC even if we took all the money raised from congestion pricing and lit it on fire, it'd still be a huge net positive policy. everybody benefits including us drivers.

@enforcelawsNYC @motorisms they serve different purposes and have different positive and negative externalities. however from reading your tweets it isn't surprising that you have a black-and-white, cars-only view of things.

Cyclists are the minority of road users. Just saying.
Ben Furnas@bfurnas

Even the conservative @ManhattanInst: "some people need their cars, but rather than remake the city for this minority, the minority should fit themselves into a far more functional urban transport landscape featuring buses, subways, bikes and, of course, feet."

@Twitter I have never liked anything anywhere near this realm of tweet. You bastards. Does the picnic look chill? Of course it does, it’s not why I’m on Twitter, though. Your algorithms are better than this, give me what YOU KNOW I want, not this counterfeit culture.
