The advent of the smartphone has made men and women, but especially women, far less likely to get married, want to have kids, and less likely to stay married. Anything that discourages family formation is ultimately anti-human and a disservice to civilization. You think you like and rely on these things until you experience life without them (digital detox) and realize just how much of our humanity has been sacrificed at the altar of technology. Miserable, diabolical contraptions.

The iPhone Era really tanked girls' expectations for marriage and motherhood.😢@grantjbailey

@DKThomp @JesusFerna7026 Lots of countries are still having kids. They will take advantage of open borders. They will bring their ideologies with them - or suffer the same fate as the failed cultures they invaded. Feminism contains within it the seeds of its own destruction.

New pod: WHY THE WORLD REALLY STOPPED HAVING BABIES This is just a really amazing overview of a topic I thought I understood deeply. "Only two things are important right now in life: fertility and deep learning," the economist @JesusFerna7026 said. "Everything else is noise. Once you start thinking about these things, it's hard to start thinking about anything else." Some unbelievable, big-picture stats from the show: - 'Peak child' is world history is very likely in the rear-view mirror—likely around 2013 - 2023 was the first year in human history that global fertility rate likely fell below the replacement rate, and it's still going down - The world population is on pace to peak in the 2050s and then fall with accelerating speed every decade after - The compounding effects of sub-replacement level fertility are hard to fathom in the long run. If Thailand keeps its current fertility rate of 0.8 for the next 200 years without immigration, its population will decline from 63 million to 2 million. Yes, two million—the current population of Houston. Fertility's compounding effects over decades are like a tectonic plate—slow moving, but carrying the entire world. "Once you start thinking about it, it's hard to start thinking about anything else." youtube.com/watch?v=5F7_qa…

Pancreatic cancer research just had a breakthrough moment. KRAS-targeting drugs and mRNA vaccines are extending survival in ways we haven't seen in decades. The @Perlmutter_CC is already running trials to bring these advances to patients. Dr. Anirban Maitra (@Aiims1742)

@MuseZack Ok thanks for the feedback. Genuinely not intending to troll. I'll give Fagles another try someday, audiobooks are great.

@MuseZack People knock the Emily Wilson translations, but they're great if you don't like archaic English. I figure if you're gonna translate, use language people will understand. Of course this probably outs me as a midwit.

The wonderful Robert Fagles translations of The Iliad and The Odyssey have audiobook narrations by Derek Jacobi and Ian McKellen and listening to them is every bit as great as you'd think it would be.

Sally Field says she thought Robin Williams "wasn't funny" while filming "Mrs. Doubtfire": “Robin was always trying something different to make me laugh. It was so unfunny. I can't begin to tell you. And then Pierce, wonderful Pierce Brosnan, we were sitting at a table at the restaurant, and he made a fart noise on his arm. And I was gone. That was it.” variety.com/2026/film/news…

@douglassmackey Ironically tho, Dave did the boyfriend a huge favor. And the only way to do this favor was to talk to her in a way she was prepared to accept.

@BioLobotomy Is it possible that 4.9mg of 7P is only 1/7th of the specific neoantigen variety actually found in the patient (e.g. 0.7mg of G12D)? Whereas the 4.9mg 2P formulation had 2.45mg of G12D? Also much of what seemed like effective low dose 2P is in CRC, thus maybe uncomparable?

MRD biomarker clearance and worsening aren't everything, but they're highly predictive of OS and DFS, which is why I'm concerned. It really looks like 4.9mg of 7P might perform worse than 2P...

$xbi $ELTX concerns. The vast majority of the data, including plotting the vaccine's mOS and mRFS benefit in phase 1 versus that of long-NAT FOLFIRINOX (let's assume every patient got it), still points to efficacy as the best explanation. But that's not my concern

Given that on your deathbed the only thing you’ll care about is your children, it’s kind of weird that our whole society is designed to prevent you from having any. Terry Schilling, the father of eight, just made a film about it, called Fathers Wanted. @RonDeSantis Or you could make college sports less profitable by taxing the commercials, and sending the money back to the schools. Everybody wins there, especially the viewers.

William Chaffin 🇺🇸🗽🎬@billychaffin23

@RonDeSantis Yes! We need a real governing body. NIL was supposed to allow college athletes to sign marketing deals. Not have boosters build funds to pay players. Fix this, limit transfers to one free transfer, sit out if they transfer a 2nd time, this balances things out.

Life can change in a moment. Wins fade. Plans fall apart. Even the sport you love can be gone tomorrow. But one thing never moves—your identity in God. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve fallen short. Grace is still available. Purpose is still calling. And the gifts God gave you? They’re meant to be used, multiplied, and shared. Build your life on what lasts. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1 #IdentityInChrist #KingdomImpact #SportsLife #InfuseLife #EternalFocus @GodsWrestler133
