@DarrowA6159 @briankeepsworth I follow what you’re saying, but were they Christians or were they not? Because there is an inherent distinction between the faiths of Judaism and Christianity. I feel like you asking if there even is a distinction is almost a rhetorical question, no offense intended.

@djudication @briankeepsworth Those were Jews practicing Judaism who believed the messiah had come. They didn’t stop being Jews or practicing Judaism. Paul’s life revolved around religion the Jewish calendar. He brought sacrifices to the temple. The apostles went to the temple at the hour of prayer. Acts 3:1

@raxxan7 @40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie These are just empty polemics. Sure gay people shouldn’t be “demonized,” but even Plato and Aristotle were able to come to the conclusion that homosexuality is intrinsically disordered via philosophy, not religion. Alas, how do you even judge what’s “wrong?”

I mean just look at our society and all the hate that erupts from it due to religion. Gay people aren’t demonized because they’ve actually done something wrong, they’re demonized because religion told people to do that. People use it as an excuse to be terrible to others. If someone is dying, they say “I’ll pray for you” or “this is gods plan”. They don’t even offer help.

@prolifefrenchie Omg the same as Christianity. It’s almost like men create religion to control others!

@raxxan7 @40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie You also criticized Christians for “being hateful.” I was simply addressing that first because I thought that it was a silly claim. You haven’t demonstrated how Christians “control the world.” Having foundational dogmatic beliefs in one’s faith means they control the world?

@djudication @40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie The topic is of Christians and their control over the world. If I call you out for pickin ur nose, it would not matter less because Robert picks his nose too. I’ll call you both out. Ya know?

@raxxan7 @40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie So my next question then is why is your criticism specifically directed towards Christians if this issue isn’t specific to them? Of course there are Christians who are jerks. Jesus even addresses this in the gospels. That doesn’t falsify the religion/belief system.

@raxxan7 @40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie Do you think “hate and belittling” is something specific to Christians or that human nature in general might be “fallen” and conducive to hateful and belittling behavior?

@djudication @40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie Cus then you basically say, if you do not believe in this god, you will go to hell. Christians actively hate and belittle those that don’t believe in god or even believe in any other religion.

@raxxan7 @40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie But the Kerygma of the Faith is that we are saved by grace through faith that manifests itself in love. How does that sound like control to you?

@djudication @40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie Thank you for your apology. The apostles were also having their speech controlled. And people use their story as a way to control. They did not get any control themselves.

@raxxan7 @40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie That’s silly, man. The Apostles (minus John) received torture and execution for their evangelization efforts. What “control” do you think they received that was worth the torture and execution they received?

@40_Mike_ @prolifefrenchie Think of it like this. I write a book. In this book there is a line that says “never eat apples”. You like apples. I like apples. While you follow what my book says, I happily eat apples despite my writings. Why? Because it’s about control what YOU do

Obedience to the Catholic Church is one of the signs of being among the elect. This afternoon I read this profound line from St. Pope Gregory the Great’s “Moralia on Job” (Book 34, §42): “Consequently, he [David] humbly deferred to the one [Saul] whom he knew to be incomparably inferior to himself through the grace of divine election.” The great Saint, Pope, Church Father, and Doctor of the Church notes that humility before God-ordained authority is one of the great signs of being among the elect (those going to heaven). He cites David as an example, for even though he knew by divine revelation he would be king one day, he nonetheless submitted to King Saul, who—as Gregory observed—David knew was “incomparably inferior to himself.” This is precisely the sort of humility by which all good men remain humble and submissive before God-ordained authority, particularly when the bearers of office are personally inferior to themselves. David did it. Our Lady did it. The Apostles did it. And our Lord did it. It is the path to true and lasting holiness. None of us have any excuse.

@ChanceWilsonJMJ @ChildOfStThomas @sincead33 Any Roman development like icon veneration (doesn't appear before 200 and a wall painting doesn't count), infant baptism (isn't even spoken of AT ALL for 150 years, household is a weak argument), the intercession of Mary (250 ad is way too late)
