The more Giribala Singh speaks, the more she reveals about the deeply problematic societal conditioning of how a bahu is supposed to behave - the sanskari bahu should be Pooja path wali, should also know how to cook and water plants, she should be her inlaws ke charnon main rehne wali. she should be seen, not heard. She should be there to please all but seek nothing for herself in return.

Maj Harshit, brother of Twisha Sharma, is out there presenting the facts. It took three days for MP Police to even register an FIR. This case strongly resembles that of Col Bath, who was beaten by goons in Punjab police uniform. They were protected by the system until Mrs. Bath took charge. As I said again, this politician, bureaucrats, judiciary, and criminal nexus is beyond control. All the institutions are dead. I am sure Maj Harshit, a soldier, will not stop until justice is served for his sister. My request to the Army is to please put the weight of the institution behind this soldier, as police and judiciary are helping Ms. Girbala Singh. Nothing is expected from the CM of MP, who is incompetent and clueless.

#WATCH | Delhi: A man was allegedly burned alive and killed by his wife and mother-in-law in the Jahangirpuri police station area of the North West district. The police have taken the mother-daughter duo into custody and have commenced their interrogation. Investigation is underway.
The owner of the house, where the incident happened, says, "Last night at 8:30 PM, when news of a fire broke out, my husband, my mother-in-law, and I were inside the house; we initially assumed the fire had started somewhere outside or that a short circuit had occurred. Subsequently, people gathered at our doorstep and informed us that the fire was actually inside our own home. As soon as we stepped outside to investigate, we saw a young man descending from above while engulfed in flames. He then fell down the staircase, landed at the bottom, and lay there; he was completely naked, and his entire body was severely burnt. After lying there for about 10 minutes, he gave a statement. We called the SHO because, at that moment, we were unable to get through to the emergency helpline (112)... We also called for an ambulance... An officer arrived from the police station and recorded the young man's statement on his phone; in it, the victim alleged that his wife and mother-in-law had set him on fire, and that they had also enlisted the help of 2-3 other individuals. He also made certain allegations regarding an affair—claiming that his wife was involved with 2-3 other men... When we informed his family about the incident, his wife refused to come downstairs, stating that he should simply be left to burn... No one from his family came forward. The police arrived later; they took his statement and transported him away in the ambulance. Later, we learned that he had passed away..."

No country’s record on human rights is stellar and that’s not to take away from ours or to critique it and stand up against injustice - like so many of us do. But this charade that Europe is better than us or entitled to question us - with probably the most morally vacuous foreign policy and a continent whose economy, infrastructure and prosperity was built on loot is pushing it.
If the principle is human rights then let’s apply it equitably. No nation can ride the white horse or the high horse.
The reverse of the argument that they are better now, so their sins are washed is reductionist.

We’re defending our “glorious” record on human rights abroad just 24 hours after the Supreme Court criticized its own verdict denying bail to Umar Khalid who has been jailed for over 5 years without trial. There are chief ministers who campaigned in recent elections while making the most vicious remarks targeting religious minorities. In Bengal, over 2.7 million valid voters were denied their basic right to vote in elections last month. Religious politics over food and dietary habits is being unleashed across the country. Sure, we can try to fool the world with carefully scripted diplomatic readouts but the truth cannot be hidden so easily.

Barring a few, no one needs a convoy or the security (at the scale they do) or the white towels on seats. The ANI mockery of posting these videos aside, if the Prime Minister can kick the rank and file into reform then that would be an enduring legacy. The MHA should use this as an opportunity to re- write deployment protocols, SOPs on vehicle usage, sirens, beacons to once and for all kill the psychological overlording that the bureaucracy has.

Yesterday was a long day.
I was called for questioning in connection with a case that I believed had no merit, and I attended the questioning to present my version. However, the police arrested me at 5.30 PM.
I was granted bail at 10 PM, and the Hon’ble Duty Judge clearly stated that he saw no offence in the case. He also said that he saw no mens rea and failed to understand why I had even been arrested.
Grateful to @RaviSharmaTalks and @sidcool2302, the wonderful lawyers who helped me through this.
Thankful to the many people, both online and offline, who supported me. I’m truly grateful. Of course, there are many who dislike you and use such opportunities to strike harder when you are down, but that’s fair game. It was your day, and you took it. I can take those blows and come back.
At times like these, one realises the importance of ideological support. The people who stood by me at the most crucial juncture were neither close friends nor relatives, but those with whom I am bound by ideology. And it delivered for me when it mattered most.
This incident has added many new layers of perspective, most importantly the ones we usually miss in the melee of day-to-day social media discourse.
I’ll write about the specifics of this case another day. For now, I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who has been a well-wisher. I’m grateful.

A social media influencer (Dr Neelam Singh alias The Skin Doctor) has been arrested by Delhi Police for allegedly posting tweets against the Kapur family following the death of businessman Sunjay Kapur. According to sources, a complaint in the matter was lodged at Vasant Kunj Police Station on behalf of the Kapur family, following which the police initiated action and arrested the accused influencer.
