Wow. The #NHL has docked the Vegas @GoldenKnights a second round pick for a “flagrant” violation of the league’s media policy. Coach John Tortorella has also been fined $100,000.

@learning_yohei It depends where you live. Many Americans don’t learn a second language at all. I live in California. To graduate high school, students need to take two years a foreign language. It doesn’t matter which. Spanish is the most common here but some schools offer others.

@B__Daily Also, once the purely electric range exceeds the driver’s daily commute (or blows entirely by it) and you don’t use any gas except for infrequent long trips, you start to increase risks of degrading your ICE components with stale gas.

Can someone a lot smarter than me explain to me why more cars are not hybrids? Electric drivetrain with a generating ICE motor. This seems to be the best of both worlds. Maybe have to build one of our old cars into a hybrid.

@B__Daily I drive a plug-in hybrid with about 40 miles of range. It has the functionality to burn gas purely to recharge the battery to extend EV range but I never use it because I can get roughly the same (if not better) fuel economy and better performance operating in hybrid mode.

@tammy28x @hircinecapra It’s more the system being tilted in favor of kids from rich families. This is a top university with very selective admissions. A kid with parents who value education and have the time and money to dedicate to that education is more likely to meet admission standards.

Life has kept me busy lately, so its been while since Ive checked on our CA40 carpetbagger. Found this gem on her campaign insta, trying to look like a relatable mom. Anyways, that sweatshirt her kid has on is a $2000+/night dude ranch. Same place btw she took her horse pic.

@cagiago_ The USA, by and large, doesn’t care about soccer/football. It makes zero sense for us to host. This is like holding the world hockey championships in Morocco.

@GsuGrinding This is what bothers me the most about the leftists who practice law. They know how to put themselves in the other person's shoes, theoretically, yet they act as if there can only be one interpretation of reality. /1

@mjsolen @californiapost Hard to blame this on minimum wage alone when their prices are materially higher than their local competition. A single cheeseburger is over $10 at five guys in LA. A single cheeseburger at In-N-Out in LA is $4.40.

Is this another casualty of California’s $20 minimum wage for fast food restaurants? Although pushing for a high minimum wage makes lawmakers sound good to their constituents, this is the actual consequence. Higher prices for the food and eventually restaurants leave the state - and the jobs go away as well.

@WelDemi161 It’s kind of similar here. Most of my peers have a high regard for Japan. We like your food, your engineering, (most) video games and movie nerds love Kurosawa. Anime and contemporary music, though, are not really understood by older Americans and viewed as “weird” kid stuff.

@tuuu28283 Hot dogs are popular everywhere here but are served differently in different regions. They are sometimes wrapped in bacon in LA (but no mustard), served with mustard and pickles in Chicago, and with chili and cheese in Ohio.

@learning_yohei “Movie” is the usual term in America and works for everything. “Film,” while technically correct is colloquially used as an honorific to imply a movie is a higher form of art. Like The Avengers is a movie, Citizen Kane is a film.

77,000 likes on a nonsensical tweet. She failed the bar exam once, and the American Bar Association has nothing to do with it. The California bar exam is arguably the most difficult bar exam in the country.
