For the last three years the NHS (England) have run at 93% bed occupancy. This is the worst in the history of the NHS It is the worst in the entire OCED We also have 40% fewer beds than the OCED average Again, for the cheap seats: the NHS is too small!

@DrSteveTaylor Not even similar. The plumber has to pay his own overheads and has to fund his pension, sick and holiday pay.

For context for people that slate lazy ‘part time’ GPs, I was physically in the building until 7.30 on Mon & working until 11. Standard 8.30-5.30 in the building yesterday. Working at home all day today, will easily do another 4h over Thurs/Fri and doing 9h on Sat. Not bad for my 16h 40 min ‘contracted’ hours. This ratio of actual work to scheduled work is why I don’t go for ‘contracted’ full time hours.

@thinkdefence A bit bulky but works superbly. A little newspaper or a bit of dry grass and twigs and boiling water in a few minutes. When I was young our family used to camp in France for weeks with no other way to heat stuff

@jabberwock951 @saspist For a diagnostic LP it saddens me how few will wear a facemask. And so many places still use Quinke needles. Personally I think anaesthetists or other frequently performing clinicians should do (and be funded for) all lumbar punctures

@ToryFibs That really is outrageous. Why are MP's subsidised while earning high salaries! And full time nurses have their salaries topped up by Universal Credit, because they aren't paid enough!
