This BullshitBench result goes a long way toward explaining the widespread intuition that Claude is the best daily driver, despite Google and OAI’s eye-popping benchmarks. Contrast BullshitBench with the problem-solving benchmarks. All of the latter presuppose correct solutions. But in real life, problems are poorly defined and it’s often unclear what questions are worth asking or even have answers. You need a model that can steer you off the wrong path — ie, call bullshit.

@antoniosarosi As long as context windows are a constraint, IMO higher-level languages have a token advantage when it comes to understanding more of the project/context.

Hot take: interpreted languages will die with the rise of AI. The point of Python is you can develop faster cause you don't have to think about pointers, allocations and lifetimes. In exchange you get software slow af. But if AI oneshots 2K+ lines/hour of Rust what's the point?

@_arohan_ The part I’m still figuring out: the compression is real but our nervous systems aren’t built for it. The exhaustion isn’t from the work - it’s from making decisions at a pace we never evolved for. Curious how you think about that adjustment on the research side?

while my friends played starcraft, i studied the compiler. and now you come to me ... wait hold on your saying niche computer knowledge is commoditized now and what matters is coordinating a bunch of agents with lots of quick task switching and high APM

90% of the time you don’t need a DevOps guy. You need a C++ guy, a SQL guy, and one fat server with a lot of ram. StackOverflow used to run on *one* SQL Server with a hot spare. Peaked Alexa Rank #36, 10+ Million visits a day.

@jjanezhang treat your code like bonsai, ai makes it grow faster, you have to prune it from time to time to keep its structure and establish the overall design

@veggie_eric That said, 1) I probably would have learned more/faster with other methods, but Duolingo is a nice gamified "bare minimum" compared to doing nothing at all. 2) I'll probably quit after I actually hit 1000 days since they removed free practice, pushing people to pay.

@veggie_eric My best attempt... Jag kan talar lite svenska eftersom jag studerade det på Duolingo i nästan 1000 dagar. Jag studerade också i en skola för en månad. Jag kan läsa och skriva men jag vet inte hur bra jag kan tala det.

Has anyone actually successfully learned a language using Duolingo Seems like a lot of cute graphics and satisfying sound effects but I'm not buying that it actually works...

@joshua_thaler @TinaKotek You are the entitled cunt whining about your kids needing their cell phones in schools. Do yiu think teachers teach only your little shit for brains kids? They can't make rules based on what one chucklefuck like you thinks is best for yiur kids.

I signed an Executive Order to ban student cell phone use during the school day in Oregon’s K-12 public schools. This will help improve focus, mental health, and safety—so every student can learn and thrive without distractions.

@DarthThraken @notch Yep, been working remotely since 2016 here. Relocating for a job is a joke unless it's somewhere you already wanted to move to and the job just foots the bill.

Washington DC's crime rate remains high but is improving. In mid-2025, its Crime Index is 60.2, higher than New York (51.1) and Chicago (66.0) but lower than Baltimore (73.1) and Detroit (70.4). Internationally, it's above London (55.3) and Paris (57.5) but below Nairobi (59.6) and Rio (75.2). Over 5-10 years, violent crime fluctuated: low in 2017-2018, spiked post-2020 (peaking 2023 at 40.9 homicides/100k), down 35% in 2024, and 26% YTD 2025 vs 2024—now at 30-year low.
