How much time is wasted when doing business strategy in ensuring the slide look 'pretty' rather than actually doing any work? #strategy #businessStrategy

@chriscfox The United States purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867 . The purchase price was set at $7.2 million (equivalent to $129 million in 2023), or about 2 cents per acre ($4.74/km2).

Perhaps Trump should offer Alaska to Putin in return for withdrawing from Ukraine? At least they have all the parties necessary for such an agreement in the room.

/1 "Strategy 101 is about choices: You can't be all things to all people." – Michael Porter Attempting to cater to everyone often leads to diluted efforts & unclear messaging. Instead, businesses should focus on specific strengths & target markets to achieve success. #strategy

@Telegraph No, they're businesses that make a profit and will pay VAT based on their profit. No profit equals no VAT to pay.

@chriscfox Specific out of scope "we will not...." Design principles or, key decisions, are always a good idea. Puts paid to pet projects that don't facilitate the strategy and creates focus on the right things.

As Lao Tzu also said: "The Master does nothing, yet he leaves nothing undone. The ordinary man is always doing things, yet many more are left to be done." Does your #strategy pay as much attention to what should NOT be done as it pays to what should be done?

@TalkTalk You have a server issue on tiscali mails via outlook today. Web mail is OK. Several devices on several addresses- so it is a problem at your end.

@TalkTalk It resolved itself after 48 hours, the emails sent during the period never arrived and disappeared. No great loss in reality This sort of thing seems to happen about twice a year with the tiscali email system.

@talktalk You have an issue on your outbound server. Tiscali Emails are not being received by recipients. Multiple devices and multiple tiscali email addressees, no errors on client devices. Some do get through, others not, tiscali to tiscali no go at all.

Opinion: The distinction between income tax and NI is responsible for more confusion and problems than any other UK government policy.

@BritishGas Seems really hard to submit a meter reading from an online account. One ends up going round in loops. In the end, I found a direst link to the submit form that is outside the online account and identifies you through submitting your account number. Bizarre.

@BritishGasHelp It seems very difficult to submit a meter reading through an online account; you end up going round in loops. Eventually discovered a link to the form directly outside of an account accessed via an account number on the form but you can't find in on the site.

@BrineMP @RishiSunak @CommonsHealth As much as this policy is well meant and your right about the highly negative results of smoking; history tells us that prohibition creates unintended consequences, for example alcohol prohibition in the US in the twenties and early thirties. I am not a smoker.

re Wilko collapse - is it time to ensure that company pension schemes are correctly funded before dividends are paid out ? Wilko deficient is £56m - collapse means that employees will take a 10% benefit cut if scheme falls under the default.

@seantoms The trouble is some car manufacturers have stopped selling diesels already. My 2022, Ford kuga was one of the last diesels to be manufactured. I suspect by the time we get to the original date you won"t be able to buy anyway.

This morning the Prime Minister is likely to put back the ban on sale of ICE cars to 2035 , the same as the EU , the banning of gas boilers will also be delayed and the crazy attacks on the rented sector re EPC changes and the bans will also go - at last pragmatism prevails

@seantoms Just got back from West Wales prior to the change over. The "prepared" and "unprepared" situation on signage looked completely crazy- complex. Did 20mph just outside in St David's, in an existing zone, and got overtaken !

Welsh speed limits reduced today to 20mph from 30 mph , less than 30% of people in You Gov poll support this - but hey the Welsh bureaucrats don’t care about public opinion - dogma - what’s next 10 mph limit - man with a red flag walking in front of each car ? Back to 1900 ?
