Unknown to many of you, before Mansa Plus, I was (feels weird saying I was, I still I’m) a musician. @raysmanifests was my music manager! We gave it our all! But guess what, it didn’t work out! Put in a lot of money, recording music, making videos, pushing the songs, but the result was next to zero. On my music YouTube Channel I have under 1400 subscribers! @willyskihumba has had his days as a musician and a Dj, but I will let him tell his story! To an outsider, that looks like failure, and for sure it is failure! However, it was that experience that we used to build Mansa Plus, or rather prepped us to handle what was coming. When we were busy begging people to subscribe and watch our content, it didn’t feel weird because we had been doing it throughout our music days. When we tried to work with certain people and they shut doors on us, we were in familiar territory. When we went months without pay but showed up everyday, that was the norm in our music days! When some people made fun of me and my accent, come on, we were already used to it! And when it came down to work, I was already used to being in front of the camera… I guess as Jay says, it’s not failure it’s a lesson. I’m very proud of what we are doing in this space, and I’m even more proud of every moment that has read us here! It really is in the journey and who you journey with. Luckily, I get to do this with two good friends who are super humans when it comes to their jobs! To all my friends, family and people that I don’t even know who watch our content, and buy our services, know that I’m super grateful. Not all money in your bank account is taxable income... Court warns KRA. There is a company called Konchor Kid Limited. Their business is simple. - They collect money on behalf of clients through its bank accounts. - Pass it to the clients - Retain a commission of 0.2% Meaning, - For every 1 billion they collect, - They earn 2 million shillings. KRA audited them. Saw their bank accounts. And went nuts. - How can billionaires declare an income of 2 million only? KRA became even more dramatic. - They baptized the difference of 998 millions as UNDECLARED INCOME. Then issued a tax demand of 345m. Konchor Kid explained their business model to KRA. - Bro, this billions you see here is not our money. - We only earn 0.2% They even provided client agreements to prove it. But the KRA officers salivating to beat their targets could not hear any of it. Konchor Kid ran to court. The court looked at the case and shook its head. Court affirmed , - The company had fully explained its nature of business. - It had provided sufficient evidence. - KRA had no basis to ignore that. The court declared KRA’s actions were unfair, unreasonable and illegal. As such KRA lost. Lessons. - The govt is setting higher targets for KRA every year. - KRA staff are under insane pressure to beat these targets. - So, KEEP RECORDS. Records. Records. Records. Records are king in tax audits.

@shadrac_matata The funds were refunded an entire week after disbursement…at the exact same time. They wanted to keep the money…someone asked them to give it back for the sake of the integrity of the story.

The most interesting part in that TV47 expose is when the media crew refunds the 20k tip. I've experienced this twice in different media houses. You try to buy coffee they tell you, "we don't do that here." You go ahead and send some cash, it gets reversed immediately.

If I’m ever in charge of traffic enforcement in Kenya, the one and only rule I’ll do a “crackdown” on is “keep left unless overtaking”. So many accidents, boda boda collisions, and pedestrian deaths are as a result of non-adherence to this basic principle.

Prado drivers are disproportionately GoK VIP Drivers who must take a defensive driving course. A basic tenet of the course is “no car in-front, no car behind”. Try drive like that for 5 minutes and you’ll see why they’re ‘asshats’. Research complete. Future works: fix the course.
