I’m hiring Mindbloom’s 3rd PSYCHEDELIC LAWYER. Our 1st Psychedelic Lawyer @mikeroplastics graduated to founding his 1st venture-backed startup Proxima Health. I wrote the 2nd check in. Ca-ching. Our 2nd Psychedelic Lawyer Dean L'hospital is an AI-first builder lawyer, artist, and former founder. I promoted him to General Counsel, and we’re doubling down on our core competency innovating and winning offensively and defensively in regulatory. We’re the largest provider of ketamine therapy in the world with over 800,000 sessions facilitated across 38 states, hundreds of millions of dollars in psychedelic therapy sold, profitable, and still just getting started. As Psychedelic Lawyer / Legal Counsel, you’ll help a massive number of Americans and help them a lot (life-changing is the most common testimonial we get) while working on big-time initiatives, including literally changing and shaping psychedelic medicine law. Examples of things we’ve done and are doing: + Launched 1st national brand for psychedelic therapy, at-home psychedelic therapy, and then at-home injectable psychedelic therapy. + Suing the WSJ for lying we killed Matthew Perry for $88M (just won the motion to dismiss so big WSJ fired their litigators). + Led mental health industry-wide lobbying that solidified telemedicine prescribing for controlled substances after COVID for everyone. + Consistently publish the largest peer-reviewed clinical studies and white papers in psychedelic medicine history. + Building a truly AI-First legal, regulatory, and compliance machine to support in-house counsel and our 30+ outside lawyers, lobbyists, insurers, compliance folks, etc. + Work with a founding CEO who gets and prioritizes legal and regulatory (under-valued) — I last co-founded Mighty and Justice Bolt, the leading software + capital provider to personal injury lawyers (and doctors and funders) spanning legaltech, fintech, a hedge fund, a law firm, and one of the first AI companies in legal back when we still called it Machine Learning. I'm prioritizing signs of exceptional ability and achievement, especially in creative problem-solving intelligence, lifelong learning, obsession with our mission, and obsession with AI. Healthcare law experience a bonus but not required. If you know a lawyer at any seniority and think “they’re a Psychedelic Lawyer,” forwarding this to them could literally change and save lives <3 Link to job below.

small win, but it's been really cool to get to the point that companies are specifically allocating budget for us next year for the last 5 years it's essentially been fighting to explain the value of Out-Of-Pocket and figure out where in the couch cushions we can find money for it Now companies are understanding why smaller more curated conferences work, why in-depth long form content matters, and why having a casual tone and memes works

You can only connect the dots looking backwards. If I had never given Ben Altman a call to randomly catch up, I never would have moved to Brazil in 2014. If I had never moved to Brazil, I never would have become close with @britton. If I had never become close w/ Scott, I never would have become close with @jwmares. If I had never become close with Justin, I never would have founded Mindbloom. Justin offered to be the first investor in anything I did in psychedelics (which inspired me to look deeper) and helped get our seed round funded with @LeeJacobs, @cyantist, and @LongJourneyVC. If I had never founded Mindbloom, I may never have found my life's work. And I never would have moved to Austin to build Edge Village, our live-next-to-friends community. Watching Justin do his life's work is a beauty to behold, like watching an all-pro athlete at the top of their game. Truemed is going to play a pivotal role in transforming the American sickcare system into an effective, affordable, and logical healthcare system, finally. PS: they're hiring... 😎
Justin Mares@jwmares

Today, 90%+ of healthcare spend (all $4.5T of it) goes towards treating chronic conditions after someone is sick. Less than 3% of that spend goes towards prevention. @Truemed exists to get more people investing in True Medicine. Exercise, food, supplements, movement, sleep, toxin removal… lifestyle interventions that help people treat and prevent disease, not just treat the symptoms of underlying sickness. We’re building tools that allow qualified individuals to unlock the $160B in tax-free HSA/FSA funds, and use them on these root-cause interventions. Since launching just 2.5 years ago, we’ve helped almost a million individuals pay for these interventions, and we’re just getting started. If we want to fix healthcare in America, we fundamentally have to help Americans get healthier. I’m extremely proud to announce our $34M Series A led by a16z, and am excited to continue our work to end the chronic disease crisis.

@coryDwake @joepohlen These businesses require license from the state to participate and because of concern over fraud ( sometimes warranted and sometimes not) and the rapid growth of these programs putting strain on state budgets, states have been taking back licenses and new ones are tough to get.

One of the highest-margin, easiest businesses to be in as a home care provider is participation in the "Paid Family Caregiver" program. I was surprised to learn this was a thing. Essentially, state governments pay family caregivers for taking care of their loved ones, and they do it through private companies as intermediaries rather than paying the caregivers directly. The companies get paid for their involvement, and it's almost pure profit. The hardest part of running a home care agency is finding staff, so agencies love this program because it eliminates that challenge. The state sends them money, they pay the caregiver, and they collect a fee.

.@nikillinit out here looking like he's an under-paid magician for a kids birthday party 💙 but actually, shout-out to my guy who took the leap during the pandemic, stuck with it, and really built a brand/community/newsletter/courses etc. with his own sweat and intuition.

At Sherpaa, we cared for ~50k people over our 8 years and had ~500k episodes of care. Our messaging was "start with Sherpaa first" so these were everyday primary care concerns. 80% of the 500k never needed to be seen in-person. That is real world data, not claims analysis.

🚨New Second Opinion🚨 I teamed up with @seanduffy to analyze how many of the 9k+ Category I CPT codes are "clinically feasible" for virtual care vs. brick & mortar. Spoiler alert: It's v. few. So what should be the right balance going forward? ovsecondopinion.substack.com/p/virtual-care…
