Africa imports over 90% of its medicines and 99% of its vaccines, limiting its ability to respond to health threats. To change this, @AfricaCDC has been advocating for local production of medical countermeasures through well structured, well coordinated Research & Development (R&D) governance and coordination systems. We are proposing a Continental Health R&D Coordination and Governance Framework to strengthen local innovation, collaboration, and medical manufacturing. With a structured network of African scientists, policymakers, and researchers, this initiative will drive research priorities, capacity building, ethical standards, and sustainable financing.
