@BootleggedChad @ripecortex @Aetna please consider doing a patient appeal as well. as the contact holder with aetna you have significantly more legal rights to push them to cover you than your doctor does (even with peer to peer)

4 days out from my life-changing surgery, @Aetna has denied the appeal for my brain surgery. to be clear, when i signed up to aetna months ago, the coordinator had confirmed they would cover this surgery. then, a week ago, they said the surgery was too experimental/elective and denied coverage. we appealed. that appeal was just denied today. now, my neurosurgeon is trying to do a peer-to-peer consult with someone at aetna to explain why i need it so we don’t lose the surgery date on monday morning. aetna is not being responsive. this is sadistic and a violation of basic trust. please spread this so they can’t ignore it. they may not care if i live or die but people should know just what kind of company they’re dealing with. and please pray they are able to have a peer-to-peer consult with my neurosurgeon and have a change of heart.

@JakeWol23093207 @joefxd @esjesjesj you’re not doing the right math if you’re trying to claim overrepresentation here. it’s not if .8% of all shows have a single trans character, it’s if .8% of all characters on all shows cumulatively are trans (they’re not)

@joefxd @esjesjesj Fallout, Family Guy, and South Park just off the top of my head are 3 major shows with trans characters. There’s also an ad on Hulu with the main actor being trans.

People who live in areas with brutal winters always overdo summer. Try to fit in as many activities as possible. You can feel the tension with them. Winter is always on their mind, even in the middle of July

One has a higher purchase and resale value than the other. If its all you can afford then thats great and all but if you want a modest sized one you can pass down to your children as a family heirloom or sell if life circumstances change, one is clearly going to be a better long term investment than the other. It’s not our fault that whipping blacks enhances value.

@levelsio @michael_kove what does that have to do w gender preferences for grocery shopping in gen z, women are currently outearning men - wouldn’t that mean women are now more naturally inclined to hunt

@emlyhwl @michael_kove You miss the point I think We've made modern hunting capitalism itself, we work/fight for money which is a proxy for food

This is funny and true and yes it's a challenge itself to stay healthy esp after age 30 One thing that helped was never ever visiting grocery stores / supermarkets again, as OP writes, 95% of the food there is bad for you In addition to it screaming at you in hyperactive brightly colored packaging hitting your dopamine receptors instantly Now we just order online with the supermarket and they deliver the next day and avoid that dopamine attack
Adam@adamdotdev

i'm sure ozempic is great but have you tried: - never snacking - never eating out - avoiding 95% of every grocery store, only buying produce - pre-portioned meals - 90 minutes of exercise daily - walking after every meal - 10k steps daily - raw veggies to start each meal - 7+ hours sleep each night - done eating at 2pm each day - berries as dessert - only whole foods, no processed anything - strength training 3+ times each week - minimizing stress levels have you tried all that? all we have to do is all those things and the weight just falls right off, i don't understand why we need an easier option

@michael_kove @levelsio upon review this is hilarious. as if modern hunting and fishing are a thrilling, adrenaline filled pursuit of a wild beast. you’re usually sat on your ass in a blind or a boat doing nothing for HOURS

@michael_kove @levelsio i actually quite like fishing. hunting not so much, in my exp it’s mostly sitting and drinking. too boring, sedentary the point seems more like it’s to analogize (debunked) “natural” behavior to modern shopping in order to… excuse men’s lack of self control at the store? lmao

@levelsio @michael_kove there’s not much evidence to support this - “man the hunter” stems largely from 60s pseudo science increasingly studies have found that both men and women participated in hunting of various types also just lmao, we’re talking about the supermarket

There's also a men/women component to this In hunter-gatherer studies, women often did the gathering, which involved foraging and memory of location/quality Men were hunters, tracking, stalking, and killing large game So supermarkets aren't very enjoyable for men, nor is shopping in general

@michael_kove @levelsio would agree if delivery was reliable. the amount of time they get the wrong thing / replace with something you don’t want / choose bruised veg and unripe fruit… I care a lot about what I eat so I spend the time. I want to decide which ribeye looks best 🤷‍♀️

Going to the mega store/supermarket is waste of time. I'm gonna die on this hill. No ... It's not "socially pleasant" as many think. No... It's not exercise (esp if you drive there). No... It's not frugal. Order grocery deliveries. Spend that time with friends or family. Or go to the gym instead. Supermarket shoppers are intolerable (in US and in E.Europe).

@RaisingLesBars @emzanotti buying these in the plastic packages is a scam. parsley, cilantro, dill etc you can get in a large bunch and will keep for two weeks if you put the stems in water in the fridge

@emzanotti I can’t figure out how people can afford to use all the fresh herbs so many recipes call for, unless you are growing them yourself. Some fresh basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, cilantro— a little package of each of these are several dollars at the grocery store.

People like Mamdani because he seems to stand for something, even if it's just buses free at point of service, a modest, one per borough, public grocery store program, and pre-K for kids. No one knows has any idea what Chuck Schumer or Hakeem Jeffries or Kamala Harris stands for.
