@RealDanODowd @NHTSAgov @Tesla Yeah... FSD has to override drivers trying to save battery by not wanting to turn on the A/C. OR, maybe, just add a disclaimer saying they must be paying attention at all times and they're responsible for the driving. Oh, wait...

Here’s why @NHTSAGov deepened its probe into @Tesla FSD crashes today. FSD relies only on cameras to drive. Watch FSD's latest version, v14.2.2.5, rear-end a car because its camera is blinded by condensation. Get this defective software off the road.

Tesla FSD is nothing short of magic. Just rented a Cybertruck, picked it up at the airport and it drove us directly to the Airbnb. None of the stress of a new city, new roads, new car. Had it for 5 days and never drove myself. It drove perfectly. So easy and liberating

@LimitingThe If they can scale as they advertised they could, this should be something (even if not special) good enough to advance the EV market forward. Hard to see the implications for everyone else if this works *exactly* as advertised. Factories worldwide will have to be remodeled.

Yesterday Donut released their next video testing their battery in a 'real world' charging test. The charge rate hits 5C for about 4 minutes. That's not unprecedented among vehicles, but excellent for an air-cooled motorcycle battery. However: 1) The battery pack is only 18 kWh in total. My understanding is that's actually smaller than the previous 'standard' battery pack they used to used in the motorcycle, which was 20 kWh. Given the solid state battery should take up a lot less space, that means there should be a lot of free space in the battery pack area for cooling. What will the charging speed look like with the promised 33 kWh battery pack? 2) They started the charging at 20 Celsius. That's a good temperature to start at. But what was the ambient temperature? That matters for an air-cooled battery pack. 3) How does the battery hold up over time and what temperature did it reach in the test? Summary: Again, an impressive dog and pony show by Donut, but they've once again left out critical information that should have and could have been easily included to shut down criticism. Are they setting a trap to make 'critics' look bad? Or, are they leaving out the most critical information because it wouldn't paint a flattering picture?

Out of 473,000 EVs in Australia, 13 have caught fire. Of those 13, 3 were caused by separate house fires, 2 because someone set them on fire, and 5 from high-speed collisions. That leaves just 3 out of 473,000 EVs for which no cause has been identified. 3.
The NRMA@NRMA

EV battery fires are a common concern, but the reality is they occur far less frequently than many people think. Here's what the experts say: mynr.ma/ev-fires

@ton_aarts Only Tesla drivers kill cyclists. Other cyclists die "just" from "drivers". If someone driving a Tesla car hits a pedestrian, A TESLA hit a pedestrian. Any other car, it's just a car. Media is biased as 💩. But that's just because a lot of people are dumb as 💩 and don't get it

@FixorFkit Was it "critical", though? Seemed like a piece of cloth or smthing rather shallow, that would probably pass under the car without much of a problem even if a tire went over it. Still, the intervention was warranted. Good call. Hope @Tesla_AI gets to add it for training

🚨My First Critical Disengagement with FSD 14.2.2.5 After 4,200 Miles…😱 This morning on dark back roads, FSD completely missed a big object lying right in my lane. I had to take over fast at 50 mph. After driving 99% of my 4,200 miles on FSD with zero issues, this was a wake-up call. Even when FSD feels really good, it’s still supervised for a reason. Tricking the system with printed photos or gadgets is not the move. (See post below) You should always stay alert. One moment is all it takes for something to go wrong. What do you think? “This is the brutal, unpredictable real-world testing I put FSD through every single day — not easy city streets or straight highway cruises. Real back roads. Real danger. Nobody tests it harder than me!” #Tesla #RealWorldTesting

‼️FSD Cabin Camera Hack That’s Going Viral 👀 This little gadget holds a photo right in front of the mirror so the car thinks you’re still paying attention — even when you’re not. Would YOU use it? Or is it playing with fire? I already use FSD about 99% of the time in my Tesla… so if it ever feels truly unsupervised-ready, who knows — maybe I’d actually try something like this. Photos attached 👇 #Tesla

@bdquinn @chewbacapalapa Not saying they will. They'll rather adjust prices just slightly under, have majority market dominance BUT with much higher profitability.

@bdquinn @chewbacapalapa How much will other autonomous vehicle providers pay nVidea for the hardware and software updates? How will that impact ride price? Now, think about how Tesla is doing it. Tesla will have pricing power. They can squeeze anyone not vertically integrated out of the market.

Not sure how Nvidia becoming a big player in self-driving cars isn't a mortal threat to the Tesla valuation case. Tesla's valuation only makes a trace of sense if they're the only one who solves self-driving (at least any time soon) and they get to have the market to themselves.

@elonmusk @gailalfaratx @Michael7ucci @JTLonsdale Consider this: great DEFENSE lasers make each shot so cheap, missiles, drones and other aerial attacks become obsolete. When defense becomes so cheap, how would modern war look like?

𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗡'𝗦 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚: 𝗜𝗦𝗥𝗔𝗘𝗟 𝗨𝗦𝗘𝗗 𝗝𝗜𝗡𝗡 This is not a joke. This is an actual official statement from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Abdollah Ganji — advisor to the mayor of Tehran and former editor of the IRGC-linked newspaper Javan — posted on X that after the recent war, papers containing talismans with Jewish symbols were found on the streets of Tehran. His conclusion: Israel deployed occult forces and supernatural spirits against Iran. He was not alone. Political advisors, security officials, and prominent clerics echoed the narrative. One analyst claimed the Mossad operates a dedicated supernatural unit — potentially called the "General Directorate of Jinns." Israel's Mossad responded on their official Farsi X account. Their full statement: 𝘜𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘪𝘯𝘯 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺. Israel's UN advisor reposted it with a ghost emoji. This is the regime that spent 47 years threatening to wipe Israel off the map. They had no air defenses, no air force, and no navy left — and their official explanation for why is that the Jews used magic. Iran brought ballistic missiles to this fight. Israel apparently brought talismans. Final score: you already know it. jpost.com/middle-east/ir…

$TSLA Model Y Performance vs. $RIVN R2 Performance Launch Edition This is waaay better pricing than I expected for launch! R2 Performance launch is basically the same price as a Model Y, but: - R2 gives you serious off-road capabilities. Model Y does not. - R2 gives you a driver's screen with essentials so you don't have to look to the center to see speed/etc. This is a concern for a lot of drivers. - R2 Launch edition includes Autonomy+ for Free, which has a $2,500 price tag and currently gives you hands-off driving. Tesla no longer includes Autopilot without the purchase of FSD, so this is a pretty big deal! It means R2 has more self-driving capabilities included than Model Y. - Tesla has FSD options for an extra $99/month. Rivian currently does not have point-to-point driving. However, it's worth noting that fewer than 20% of Tesla owners choose to buy FSD.
