Talk to any American involved in this file. They all say the same thing regardless if they are Democrat, Republican, a non-partisan bureaucrat. They don't want to end supply management, they don't more quota access, they just want us to live up to the existing agreement.

@DustyRoseYYC AB has a history of removing politicians that don’t do the will of the people, ask Redford and Kenney. Smith won’t get party votes from Ottawa liberal insiders even if the press actively promotes the MOU. It may happen quickly if she doesn’t stop her love affair with Carney.

Maybe it was Smith's MOU with Carney that really pushed Carney's support levels. She made it seem like he has Alberta under control now.

It was my 27th time testifying in Ottawa yesterday, but my first before the House Affairs Committee. I explained what happened with La Presse, and how my 25-year collaboration with the paper was halted following personal comments I made about how public funding may be influencing editorial decisions across the country. I never once criticized La Presse itself—yet here we are. In Ottawa, several witnesses, including Peter Menzies, former editor of the Calgary Herald and Calgary Sun, expressed similar concerns. Something needs to change. The public is not being properly informed about critical issues affecting agriculture, food security, affordability, and more. No media would report on this today, for obvious reasons. Very few media outlets examined how counter-tariffs impacted food prices. It took the U.S. Ambassador to Canada—an American—to acknowledge that Canada was in breach of CUSMA, not our own media. Prime Minister Mark Carney eliminated those counter-tariffs shortly afterward. It also took three full days before anyone asked where the $14 billion would come from to fund the grocery benefit program. Media are not to blame—they are doing their best under tremendous pressure. Public funding for media is not inherently the problem. The issue is that funding private media has become partisan, and that, in my view, makes a significant difference. After 25 years, I can say something has changed—dramatically—and it is not good for our democracy.

@CalgaryDave Would love to get your thoughts on the Maverick Party. I was involved at the EDA level and left after Jay Hill repeatedly wanted FB posts deleted from members. My conclusion became that Jay Hill was there specifically to diffuse the independence movement w/dual track. Thoughts?

A career politician who lost his own seat, lost the election, had an MP clear out a safe riding to parachute him back in, clings to the leadership as the party bleeds support and MPs head for the exits, and still holds forth about meritocracy. Amazing.

Canada didn't fall in love with Carney. 1. He was handed the leadership & seat by the LPC backroom 2. Legacy media whipped up a storm of fear over Trump to get him elected. 3. He won a minority govt & used backroom deals to secure a majority. The most illegitimate PM ever.
