❄️Ship-to-Shore Patient Transfer in the Arctic
During Exercise ARCTIC EDGE 2026 (AE26), U.S. Coast Guard helicopters, Navy medics, and Air Force medical teams came together to practice the critical skill of moving patients from hazardous scenarios to higher levels of care.
Why It Matters:
Ship-to-shore patient transfer is one of the most challenging medical operations, especially in the Arctic environment. Extreme cold, unpredictable weather, and remote locations test the resilience and coordination of our Joint Force.

🚨 ARCTIC EDGE 2026 is underway!🚨
In Kodiak, Alaska, U.S. Navy Sailors, U.S. Coast Guardsmen, and U.S. Air Force Airmen are conducting ship-to-shore patient transfer drills as part of AE26.
These medical scenarios test the ability of Joint Force personnel to respond rapidly and effectively in austere Arctic conditions.
From simulated patient care to coordinated transfers between ships, helicopters, and shore-based medical teams, AE26 highlights the critical importance of medical readiness in homeland defense operations.
