#Eritrea – EU Ties of Cooperation: Past Trajectory and Future Prospects; by Shabait Staff There are compelling arguments for the EU to chart out its own independent policy for the region; review and discard asymmetric and condescending political parameters into the partnership matrix; and, cultivate its individual as well as collective ties with Eritrea and the countries of the Horn on the basis of equity, symmetry and long-term dividends. shabait.com/2026/04/03/eri…

ዒድ ኣል-ፈጥር ሙባረክ ንኹሎም ኣመንቲ ምስልምና. عيد الفطر مبارك لجميع المسلمين EID AL FETIR MUBAREK TO ALL MUSLIMS!! FROM AL SAHABA TO NAKFA: illustration of a remarkable historical continuity. AL SAHABA MOSQUE Eritrea’s Islamic heritage forms a continuous and deeply rooted historical arc that links the earliest days of Islam to later centers of faith in other parts of Eritrea. The Al Sahaba Mosque in Massawa is traditionally regarded as one of the earliest mosques in Africa, associated with the first Hijra (migration) of the Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) companions to Eritrea in the 7th century. This event established the Red Sea coast of Eritrea as one of the first sanctuaries of Islam, where early Muslims اwere granted protection and freedom of worship. HISTORICAL MOSQUE OF NAKFA This legendary history of the Nakfa mosque was told by the local people of Nakfa. According to their saying the Nakfa mosque was constructed by demand of Kentibay Osman under the guidance of two Italian men, Signor Sherfon and Signor Romel, by the people of Nakfa. To construct the mosque, all the local people of Nakfa brought stones from the hills and lime stone from Askak. Nakfa mosque was giving service to its people until 1978. From 1978 the Ethiopian regime bombarded Nakfa to conquer it again and launched heavy bombardments, not only on the frontline, on the people, on the business sectors, and on the mosque. As a result, all people of Nakfa left their beloved city and went to the neighboring countries to save their lives. The Eritrean freedom fighters resisted gallantly and Nakfa didn't fall in the hands of the enemy. Nakfa once again proved that is was sign of strong hold of Eritrean liberation.
