wrote about what the green new deal as an american socialist modernization project might look like!
Geese Magazine🪿@geesemagazine

We Will Build: The Green New Deal and Producer Populism READ: geesemag.com/articles/we-wi… Obama promised hope and change. Biden promised to build back better. Why did they fail, and what would it take for a President AOC to be a transformative president like FDR? In his latest, Nik M. (@erraticleninist) proposes the Green New Deal as a new ruling class project, not making redistributive demands of those in power, but taking that power to build our vision of society.

This quote holds a lot of relevance today in our current struggle as we see the establishment liberals levy symbolic condemnations against the Maga regime, but refuse to use the full weight of their institutional power to actually hamper the fascist takeover.

Elon DOGE: -didn’t actually save any money, deficits increased -destroyed state capacity -killed tons of people Zohran DOGE: -cut wasteful government funding -ended McKinsey contract -brought skills in-house to save money and increase state capacity
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

Government must deliver for working people—and every dollar in our budget should work as hard as they do. That’s why I directed every agency to cut waste and help close our budget gap. Here’s some of what we found.

No argument no engagement just “nuh uh”. If you read the original tweet, it’s obvious that no one is claiming relative autonomy in the context of democratic rights, but because of the fact that we actually, empirically, etc. can struggle over parts of the State to pursue our objectives. Lenins thesis on the state refers to fundamental power—there is no straight line from occupying positions in bourgeois democracy to socialist democracy, but there is one between occupying those positions and the tasks of cohering a pole for revolution. Our goal is to smash the bourgeois state, and we shall—**we already are**—use the bourgeois state to do so

The state is a relatively autonomous terrain of struggle, control over which is disproportionally impactful on organizing conditions in other terrains. Administering sections of the state effectively is a precondition for cohering a political pole capable of transforming it.
holdenn 🍺@comradejumpshot

but again... this is truly a project of state-legitimation rather than transformation -- yes cutting ties with Mckinsey is always good but my goal as a socialist is not to administer the bourgeois state more effectively than the reactionaries

“Class consciousness” is not exclusively contained in the slogan of taxing the rich and, more importantly, if you do not see how political coherence and conflict are the fundamental elements of class consciousness—then what you actually want is trade union consciousness
Rising Action 🇺🇦🇵🇸@RisingActionRA

Fucking delusional idiocy. We MUST gain class consciousness in the country for every future movement to have success. If people don't understand their class position in society, they DEFINETLY will not internationally.

Moments like this are why so many people have a hard time electorally rallying behind the Dems. An “opposition party” that doesn’t even try to establish its opposition to an illegal and widely unpopular war. Nothing beyond some isolated rhetorical gestures. That’s not opposition.
