@BBCBreakfast What a load of typical waffle. These high-street offenders have been left to operate unchecked for years. We don’t need ‘grand strategies’ - just actual enforcement. Stop the cowardly avoidance of the cultural tensions involved and start applying the law without fear or favour.

@superchip2010 @biztradegovuk At least they're trying to do something to help rather than ignore the problem late payments can cause. But I guess whatever positive action Labour tries to take won't be good enough for some😥.

Late payments don’t just slow businesses down, they slow lives down. By introducing the Small Business Protections Bill to Parliament today, we're backing small businesses with the toughest measures on late payments, so they’re no longer left chasing money they’re already owed 👉 gov.uk/government/new…

@RobertJenrick Procuring Migrant Hotels: While serving as Immigration Minister, Jenrick oversaw the use of hotels to house asylum seekers to manage processing backlogs, a strategy later scrutinized by political rivals. He was criticized for the controversial record of these hotels.

If Burnham wins, a million low skilled migrants will be allowed to stay and get British citizenship in the next few years. And he won’t stop the boats. Instead he will put them in bedsits on your street. To pay for it all? He’ll have to hike your taxes.

@Paul_David_UK @10DowningStreet Don't think you're right....GDP per capita (economic output per person) tells the real story: between 2008 and 2024, UK GDP per capita grew by a mere 4.3% in total. For comparison, in the 16 years prior to 2008, it grew by 46%.

Labour’s victory lap over the IMF tweaking UK 2026 growth from a dire 0.8% to a still-anaemic 1% is pure gaslighting. They inherited decent momentum, then slammed the economy with massive tax raids, net zero obsession, and energy vulnerability that left Britain hit hardest by the Iran war shocks among all G7 nations. The IMF itself still flags surging prices, tighter finance, and domestic uncertainty as major risks, yet Starmer and Reeves spin this as proof their plan is working. We aren’t fools: stagnant real wages, record taxes, and lagging growth aren’t success. These are the direct result of your choices, Labour.

@HorNet_Group Public can access the area as the roads themselves are adopted. But the communal areas are covered by insurance taken out by the management company. Not sure why it's required but overall the management co are doing a reasonable job here. If not they'll be removed.

@evz1958 Are they communal areas that the public can access? And we've not come across cases where privately managed estates have RTM. It's hard to understand your case without specific details.

The problem here is they are not communal areas but public open areas. Open to the public while private homeowners pay to maintain. If local authorities wouldn't maintain these areas properly that is another conversation. The other problem is uncapped fees, poor standards of service and spiralling costs. If you also look at the fact that in most cases you can't change the management company, you are looking at a very toxic setup which will essentially devalue your home. Do you want to take back what you just said @evz1958
Ron Evans@evz1958

@katesineed @MartinSLewis @mhclg @Trumpian_Horse @SteveReedMP @HorNet_Group The service charge in new developments is very valid as it covers maintenance of "communal" areas. As open areas they would normally be the responsibility of the LA. However, let's be honest, they'd look a mess in no time 🫣

@LewLoot @LabourfutureUK Couple leave £1m tax free & it has nothing to do with income. Only c6% of estates currently pay IHT & it raised £8bn+ in 2025/26. Hardly negligible.

@evz1958 @LabourfutureUK Inheritance tax is robbery. It's based on overinflated values of homes resulting from a faulty economy. It taxes even where there's zero income. And it brings in a negligible amount of money to buy bombs for the warmongers. Hey, wait a minute -- there's a solution right there.

@DeborahMeaden Agree this isn't the right time. Labour MP's are being encouraged by a media that has been undermining Starmer from day 1. Sorry but this was a time to close ranks & push forward on tackling the real challenges. Would never give a leadership role to any two faced backstabber.

@Carl__P_ @MatthewStadlen Regular pay, excluding bonuses, increased by 3.6% in the 3mths to Feb 26. That's ahead of inflation. On that basis we're all better off. The " growing" debt was under the last Tory government. One of the biggest costs is servicing the debt Labour were left with. Glass half empty?

@MatthewStadlen Yeah inflation was 3%. So we are all much worse off. Add to that a growing debt of £2.6 trillion and £110 billion of interest payments and hey ho everything is ok with the world. Moronic.

@TracyNeverLabor @BBCBreakfast @CCHQPress You wouldn't do the job for the salary. You either have a belief that you can make a positive difference or you're on a massive ego trip. Personally, for Starmer, I think it's the former. Just not worth the grief for the money.
