Selon Chamseddine Toumi, 150 bus ont été attaqués ces 30 derniers jours, avec en moyenne 5 agressions par jour, incluant jets de pierres et bris de vitres, mettant en danger la sécurité des passagers et perturbant le service public.

Iranian-Khaleeji and specifically Iranian-UAE tensions are not new. After Britain announced its withdrawal from "East of Suez" in 1968, Iran seized Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa in 1971 from the Trucial States (the UAE). The first two belonged to the Ras al-Khaimah Emirate (one of the emirates of the UAE) and were taken by force.
Iran (under the Shah) also had claims on Bahrain, which they like to call "Iran's 14th province". The claim was briefly suspended in 1970 through the UN and revived by the Islamic Republic, but the monarchy back in 1957 "integrated" Bahrain as the 14th Iranian province in its administrative division.
Khaleeji-Iranian rivalry existed well before the Islamic Revolution. The American "Twin Pillars" framework managed to paper over the Saudi-Iranian tension by giving both states a shared patron and they all had to deal with a bigger headache (socialism/communism in the region) anyway. But the underlying animosity never went away and is certainly not the result of Iran's anti-Israel's stance and the UAE's pro-Israel's stance. These postures often mask deeper underlying dynamics. They are symptoms/consequences and not causes.

I was always stunned by the lunacy of the Abraham Accords from an Emirati perspective. The UAE's conflict with Iran is far more resolvable than Israel's conflict with Iran. By joining the Abraham Accords and explicitly becoming a member of Israel's anti-Iran bloc, the UAE essentially attached itself to Israel's conflict with Iran - even though Israel is 1000 miles from Iran, while the UAE is only 50 miles from Iran's shores. The UAE made itself a frontline state in Israel's fight with Iran. Abu Dhabi is now paying the price for this mistake. Geography is ensuring that the key decisions are made elsewhere - while it pays the highest price.
