The withdrawal of some opposition figures from the CAB 3 public hearings reflects a troubling pattern of undermining democratic processes and risking damage to the country’s image. Their absence, however, creates space for constructive and orderly participation by citizens who genuinely want to engage. Public hearings are meant to promote dialogue, not disruption, and democracy requires respect for differing views without intimidation or interference. The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has learnt with deep sorrow the passing on of six (6) people in a fatal accident that occurred along Masvingo- Beitbridge highway on 2 April 2026. The Commission condoles with the bereaved families and wishes the injured speedy recovery. The Commission is also concerned with a circulating video and audio that wrongly implicates ZACC officers in the tragedy and informs the public once again that there are no ZACC officers deployed at any road-block throughout the country. The circulating video and audio allege that the accident was caused by ZACC officers who ordered a truck to turn into a BP garage along the Masvingo - Beitbridge highway, resulting in the fatal crash.
