@Citrini7 Not a political take: Trump's inner circle should go to prison for insider trading If I can complain about crackheads on the subway I can complain about his friends illegal trades

Not complaining, market is the market and there are plenty of ways to get in front of this - monitoring the order book or prediction markets or whatever. Just saying it’s kind of lame.

I’m ngl macro trading was more fun before the defining edge was whether you were in the inner circle of people who knew what the president was about to tweet.

The Apple Maps turnaround is impressive. ▫️iPhone started with Google Maps ▫️broke up after Google withheld voice-guided navigation (competitive advantage for Android) ▫️in 2012, started using TomTom data but sucked so bad Tim Cook apologized ▫️now spent billions mapping >4 million miles of proprietary street level maps data with specialized vans and people wearing goofy Apple backpack cameras walking around town (see below) Google probably makes $15B-20B on advertising in Maps. Apple’s services revenue is $100B+ in 2025 and Maps ads help push the services narrative (especially as Apple slowly forced to reduce App Store fees).
Mark Gurman@markgurman

NEW: Apple is launching ads in Apple Maps in search this summer in major advertising expansion. It’ll be announced as early as this month. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@KevinR70 @Nats2024 @kathrynw5 Bro I'm not defending this family or their decisions But if you don't have kids or haven't lived in NYC or the Bay you probably don't understand Even if we made 50k per year there's no way I'd send my kids to most public schools in nyc

@finickus @Nats2024 @kathrynw5 Whatever - it's their precious seed who'll probably run a hedge fund in 20 years, so how they try to feed themselves on a half million ain't my problem. Do what you want.

@KevinR70 @Nats2024 @kathrynw5 It's not like people moving to suburbs for schools is a new thing I'm not sure where you live but nobody should criticize wanting a decent education for their kids

Anala Gossai and Brendan O’Leary are a couple with 1 kid earning $500k. More than 40% of their income comes off the top in taxes, leaving them with $300k. They pay $3900 in rent for a 1 bedroom apartment and their baby sleeps in the room with them. They spend $4200 per month for day care. They try to save $10,000 per month. In order to achieve this, they live fairly frugally considering their high income. They’ve stopped going on vacations since their baby was born, and they can only afford to eat out about twice a month. A lot of families like this voted for Zohran Mamdani, because he promised rent relief and free childcare. But their apartment is market rate, and Mamdani’s policies of limiting rent increases for rent regulated markets are forcing those units off the market and causing rents to rise for market-rate units like the one they live in. Mamdani’s free childcare promise has turned out to be a limited pilot for only about 2000 children, and eligibility is exclusively in predominantly minority neighborhoods. Families like O’Leary’s get nothing. Further, Zohran Mamdani wants to enact income tax increases on high-earning households and a massive estate tax that will seize half the savings that Gossai and O’Leary have been sacrificing so much to accrue. If people like this have the opportunity to make a similar income in a place like Texas, where their tax burden will be as much as 7% lower, they will not be threatened with a confiscatory death tax, and they can afford to have separate bedrooms for their kids, they are likely to take it, especially after Mamdani’s policies degrade public safety in New York.

If you make $500k & feel middle class, you need to move. Specifically, 5 stops up the A train to Washington Heights. (Although actually please don't move here because then *I* will start to feel poor.) And, very impressive that they save $10k (!!!) a month.

There is no deal; the only deal right now is a deal that gives Trump everything he wants. Make of this what you will. The US is not going to make any concessions, and Israel even less so.

You see all these white San Franciscans swearing up and down that THE CITY is never called "Frisco" by local natives... But then you actually go to the ghetto of San Francisco and hang out around Black San Franciscans and you hear San Francisco get called "Frisco" all day, every day and twice on Sunday. So, yeah... For once @greenbergnation and @EricaJSandberg got it wrong. No worries. At least nobody was saying "San Fran"... We can all agree that "San Fran" is the ultimate no no. So yeah. We do call it Frisco. Maybe the white people on top of the hill don't call it frisco, but for us common folks at the bottom of the hill, It is Frisco. Hang out with my Black family and friends and I and you will hear the word "Frisco" at least a dozen times a day. Thank You. No hard feelings lol

@finickus @dilanesper The root of this conflict is perhaps the end of the 19th century, the mass jewish migration to the holy lands. The first sparks of the conflict can be seen as early as 1920. But there was so much back-and-forth and unreasonableness that it doesn't even matter anymore.

Several things can all be true at once: 1. Israel was justified in waging war on Hamas in response to October 7. 2. Israel has every right to be pissed at Iran for all sorts of reasons (Hezbollah, funding Hamas, etc.). 3. Iran didn't do October 7. Hamas did.

The transformation of liberals into "progressives" since 2013 has seriously been the worst thing to happen to American culture in my lifetime. Just absolutely gutted so much of what was good about this country. End of a golden age.

The thing that defines Hasan, Code Pink, and most of the DSA-extended-universe convoy members is not complicated. It's "America Bad". Look, sometimes America is bad. But that's quite literally the only lens they're capable of seeing the world through. It's why the DSA cozied up to Maduro. It's why Hasan thinks the Houthi terrorists are so cool and said America deserved 9/11. If something is against America, it's good. End of story. They don't have an ideology beyond that.
Germania Rodriguez Poleo@iamGermania

Cuban journalist @yoanisanchez on the Useful Idiot convoy: ‘They claim they want to "break the energy blockade" but the meet at the Convention Palace, spending the electricity that would illuminate several buildings in my neighborhood plunged in darkness. ‘In front of microphones they reject "the policy of suffocation" against the Island and yet they embrace those who silence us, take pictures with those who repress us and smile next to those who destroy our nation, making our children emigrate and drowning our hope.’
