Tourists in Jamaica right now, are treating Hurricane Melissa like it’s part of their sightseeing tour. Rather than cutting their losses and heading home, they’ve decided to stay and document their experience for clout.  The disregard for Jamaica and Jamaican people, is deplorable. Given how they will now be forced to wait on these holidaymakers hand and foot, when they should be prepping for safety with their families, is even more so. Lastly, disaster tourists; don’t you DARE post your GoFundMe.

@HawksGirl815 @OnTheRecordSC @iCyclone I would think it depends on the home structure. My roof is concrete so it’s not flying off. A metal or shingled roof, yeah keep the wind out. In a wood framed house, pressure would leak out but in a concrete house, it’s more like a bunker.

Just got to Kingston.Drove from the NW tip of #Jamaica down to the south shore. Countless downed trees,compromised roadways,electrical poles down,cell service is zero, roofs peeled off. Worst damage I’ve seen is the Treasure Beach area near Saint Elizabeth-Aid needed ASAP #Beryl

@x_xJuanchox_xx @iCyclone Comparing the two, Puerto Rico has a lot more concrete homes with concrete roofs (not all but lots). Treasure beach uses a lot of zinc and metal roofs that will be blown off quickly. In general, id say the homes in PR are better prepared.

@LYX0088 @iCyclone We are watching this from Puerto Rico. Our roofs are concrete with some Spanish tile that can also act as projectiles. Not sure why more roofs aren’t poured concrete. My house withstood a direct hit from Maria with min damage

I drove for hours today, listening to different radio stations. Lots of reggae and *lots* of talk about the approaching hurricane. There was nonstop discussion about preparations, with community leaders and government ministers describing what they're doing. There was also detailed advice for especially vulnerable groups, like pregnant women and the disabled—instructions telling them what to do. Windows have been boarded up. Boats have been pulled ashore. Evacuations are occurring. Jamaicans understand a very serious hurricane is coming. #MELISSA #Jamaica

@MAGA4LIFE85 @iCyclone Well to be fair, just last year the south side of the island right where this is going to hit was hit with Beryl. It was a cat 4 but might not have made landfall. Lovers Leap Restaurant was completely destroyed and we had lots of family lose roofs. Jamaicans know storms

@iCyclone Not just the sea but the drive down to treasure beach shows just how at risk they are for mud slides. That view at the top is breathtaking as you drive down but also scary as you think of the rain coming down. Augh, this is going to be bad once again all within 16 months or so
