@CBankingEditor @RambutanRed My point is that his change in analysis is likely driven more by the change in ground realities and relativities rather than being charmed or disarmed by China into a change.

@fungyee77 @RambutanRed I've said elsewhere in his thread - he's smart, likely has a great deal of intellectual pride, and doesn't want to look stupid. So he's hedging his bets by adjusting inflection of his outlook.

China has just done to John Mearsheimer the exact same thing it did to Aleksandr Dugin, in order to charm and disarm a highly influential geopolitical detractor. They invited both men to China to deliver lectures as academic dignitaries, making sure they were feted by students, peers and members of the public during the process. The goal of course was to shift their personal sentiments and win them over, thus changing their position as key opinion makers and policy influencers in their respective home countries.
hello world@whiteTony99

@CBankingEditor @RambutanRed He's a realist. 2005 China Vs 2026 China is very different. For any realist worth his salt - and Mearsheimer is a legend in this space - the change in relative capabilities warrants a relook at his analysis.

His tone has shifted considerably. This is him in 2005 (mearsheimer.com/wp-content/upl…). Now he's telling Pelosia to back off on Taiwan. This is him to Global Times in 2024: "My view is that despite this dangerous situation, it's not likely that we will have a war anytime soon over Taiwan. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I think it's not likely."

@_CoachRichFit @FastbreakHoops5 What will happen is that they will send the double after a few easy scores and Luka, Jokic will tear them apart with passing.

@FastbreakHoops5 Curry KD Kawhi Chet Embiid (yes he’s American now 🤷🏾‍♂️) Luka/Lauri/Jokic will get absolutely picked on. I’d let Curry guard Luka. He won’t stop him of course but now you essentially entice this team to go iso and not involve everyone which affects effort on the other end

@RichardHanania You should discuss/debate this with Ben Shapiro, I think you'd agree he's an *elite* high IQ conservative, and has similar priorities and economic views But he has a completely different take from you on the state of this war. Would be interesting to see what you could agree on

I think Hormuz has broken Trump. We always say he's inconsistent and changes his mind. But this is different. I don't think he's ever been this all over the place on an issue in such a short period of time. "OPEN HORMUZ OR YOUR CIVILIZATION DIES." "We don't need Hormuz, it's Europe's problem." "Oh actually, we're probably going to have a deal with the Iranians to run it together." "It's great Hormuz is not open, we get to sell more oil!" "Actually, Hormuz is open! The media is lying again." When he's been inconsistent before, usually he cycles through different positions, at least showing some consistency for a short period of time. Here he's constantly saying contradictory things in the same breath, over and over again. I think he realizes he's stuck. He can let Iran have Hormuz and say it doesn't matter or lie about what happened. MAGA idiots may believe him, but he'll be a laughing stock to everyone else. Or he can pivot back to "DESTROY THEIR CIVILIZATION," send oil to $150, and hope it works. Either 1) more war, which wrecks the economy going into the midterms, or 2) total loss, and maybe the economy recovers if Iran allows enough traffic through, but this goes along with what is probably the worst strategic defeat in American history. Just terrible options all around.

@CareFreeBubss @CoolHandMe33 Yea. 2024 was a travesty. This year is tough. He's spectacular but Shai, Wemby and Jokic are having historic years also. Even as a Luka fan, I may give it to Wemby for the year he's having.

@fungyee77 @CoolHandMe33 Lol, even with a chip, he'll still be looked down o. What he did with Mavs in 2024 to the point that they were considered a contender only to be a lottery team after him, shows that a ring won't change their pov.

At some point, Luka fans have to realize it has nothing to do with how well Luka plays. Of course he should be MVP, but the media just doesn’t like him. They didn’t like him as a rookie when they said Ayton should be the 1st pick. Then it was Trae Young is better, then Booker, then Ja, Mitchell, Ant, Cade, Tatum, Brown, Brunson and now SGA. Luka keeps proving them all wrong. It’s their pride that stops them from admitting the obvious. The people on TV will never admit they were wrong for eight years and just hand Luka the MVP. It’s not going to happen. History will show what a joke the NBA awards were at this time. The average fan knows this should be Luka’s second MVP, arguably even his third. People will look back at these prime years of Luka and think how was he not MVP multiple times? So all you can do is enjoy what you’re watching from Luka and appreciate it while it’s here.
First Things First@FTFonFS1

.@Chris_Broussard reacts to SGA & Luka not making an MVP case for themselves: “I get it from SGA. He’s cool, cool personality. He’s got his MVP, he’s got his championship. I get it. Luka…Luka! Ya blew it! Here’s the deal guys, it's worked! What Wemby said has worked!”

Luka and LeBron are lowkey the most dangerous duo going into these playoffs because of their ability to both completely take over and CONTROL basketball games.. like a puppet master.. especially in the half court. Lakers just need Austin Reaves to bring it consistently from night to night in the offs! 30M+!! Can’t be out there looking like Craig Ehlo in a tight series! 15 has a tendency to over dribble when more athletic defenders sit in his shorts and sit down on all his counters. The over dribbling gets him in trouble sometimes. Move the rock and get it back!

Ford will collapse into bankruptcy without government assistance. It's obsolete. BYD and CATL are the future of vehicles for most of the world. It's now abundantly clear. Nissan is in trouble. Toyota is still innovating but is behind BYD in terms of innovation. Other American brands like GMC, Chevy, etc., are nothing but a joke now.

Ten years ago, a Western supremacist said: Chinese are incapable of designing and making nice cars. I said: wait and see. “The BYD Yangwang U9 electric supercar, launched in February 2024, has a starting price of RMB 1.8 million (approximately $252,630 USD) in China as of October 2025, following a 7% price increase. It is a 1,287-horsepower quad-motor performance vehicle.”
