🇱🇧 (EN/FR/NL) I came to Beirut today to show our full support to the Lebanese authorities and to express our deep solidarity with the families affected by the violent conflict opposing Israel to Hezbollah. Just before I was commending President Aoun for offering to open official negotiations with Israel towards a ceasefire, Israel launched, with no previous warning, one of the most massive strikes since the beginning of the hostilities, allegedly causing hundreds of civilian victims. We were at the embassy with my delegation, just a few hundred metres from where the missiles struck. This must stop. The ceasefire between the US, Israel and Iran must include Lebanon! @BelgiumMFA @BelgiumLebanon

In Iraq post-2003 and in the fight against ISIS the US had a system in place to both avoid killing civilians and (sometimes) pay reparations when it did. It was a flawed system but it existed. Hegseth has axed 90% of the CHMR program. So now when America kills, China pays

China says it will donate $200,000 to parents of students killed in what it calls an “indiscriminate” missile strike on a school in Iran that left more than 165 people dead early in the Middle East war.

Israel orders the evacuation of several quarters in Beirut’s southern suburbs: Shiyah, Haret Hreik, Hadeth, and Burj al-Barajneh. This dramatic development makes me think of what a friend of mine said yesterday, namely that Israelis seek to recreate the Gaza example in the suburbs: lebanonfiles.com/2026/articles/…

#Israel orders mass evacuation of entire neighborhoods in southern suburbs of #Beirut-home to at least 1/2 million people. This comes after mass evacuation for 1/3 of south #Lebanon yesterday. A shift from evacuating buildings/targeted attacks. Total panic across the city.

A man walks alone on the beach after the Israeli army issued forced displacement orders (forced displacement is a war crime) for all of southern Lebanon, forcing tens of thousands of people north at once. The city of Tyre is largely empty at this point.

This is what is starting to happen all around the country. People are fed up and internal tensions are way more dangerous than external ones: With more and more displaced crossing the Litani into the North, and maybe soon, people coming from the Bekaa, Baalbek-Hermel, and Nabatieh, in addition to Dahyeh, many regions will be overwhelmed, and people will refuse to open their doors by fear of being struck by the IAF. We're talking of hundreds of thousands of individuals (between 500 000 and 1.2 million) trying to find a place to stay (there aren't even enough houses and apartments to house everyone). Several cities and villages have already refused the entry of Shia men (only accepting women, children, and the elderly). Others are screening every single displaced person and require a prior approval from the local municipality to make sure the ones taking refuge are not a possible target of the IDF. Suspicions, tensions and hatred are real. It's the second war in less than two years and people still haven't moved on from the last one. Even within the displaced population people are fighting (numerous videos circulate with dozens of men crying and pointing fingers at Hezbollah), women and their children tired of running condemning the Hezbollah leadership, and people in their cars stopping Hezbollah sympathizers playing the party's music loudly. Around me, most of my Shia friends are fed up and cannot take it anymore. And hear me out, none are supporting the West or Israel but they can't accept the fact that their lives and futures have been highjacked for years (taking hostage) by a bunch of warmongering men at on the paycheck of the Mullahs. The time when the Hezbollah leadership could do whatever it wanted while hoping the rest of the Lebanese society to clean after it is long gone.

This morning, neighbours showed up and accused the owners - a family who live in the hotel - of inviting this destruction by welcoming in displaced Shia. They insist they only housed families, no individual men, and refute the notion that the targeted strike, which destroyed just one floor of the hotel, could have been aimed at a Hezbollah member.

The Islamic Republic of Belgium is becoming increasingly unfit for Jewish life. Thank you to the United States Ambassador @BillWhiteUSA for fighting a determined rearguard battle.
Ambassador Bill White@BillWhiteUSA

Anti Semitism is UNACCEPTABLE in any form & it must be rooted out of our society. President TRUMP @POTUS @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @VP @SecRubio @StateSEAS @DeputySecState and I call upon all of Belgium to do a much better job on this subject ! TO BELGIUM, SPECIFICALLY YOU MUST DROP THE RIDICULOUS AND ANTI SEMITIC “PROSECUTION” NOW OF THE 3 JEWISH RELIGIOUS FIGURES (MOHELS) IN ANTWERP! THEY ARE DOING WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO DO FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. To the (very rude) Belgian Minister of Health FRANK VANENBROUCKE; You must make a legal provision to allow Jewish religious MOHELS to perform their duties here in Belgium. It’s done in all civilized counties as legal procedure. BELGIUM is a civilized country. Stop this unacceptable harassment of the Jewish community here in Antwerp and in Belgium. It’s 2026, you need to get into the 21st century and allow our brethren Jewish families in Belgium to legally execute their religious freedoms! Frank - do not “wait for this case to end”. You told me that this is your sneaky tactic in our first meeting where you refused to shake my hand or be photographed with me in your conference room, named after our GREAT First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, because it was clear that you dislike America, the country that fought and where tens of thousands of our nation’s sons died for Belgium’s freedom twice - in WWI & in WWII. Take action NOW! The world is watching. America is counting on you to do the right thing. Frank, you should do it NOW so this case ends! I am heading to Antwerp next week to meet with these MOHELS and their families. Frank you and Conner Rousseau should come with me! It’s disgusting what’s happened to these fine men and their families because of your inaction. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter!
