@hhuntzinger @Fxhedgers The best case scenario for tax returns is zero refund. It means you got all your money during the year.

@Fxhedgers The recommendation to change is a scam so that you’ll blame yourself for having a smaller (or no) refund next year. Because the IRS delayed the withholding adjustments for the OBBB until 2026, so you’ll get a smaller refund next year even if you don’t change withholding at all.

You’ve obviously never served in Iraq or Afghanistan and been under the threat of an IED or EFP courtesy of the Iranian backed terrorist groups that routinely flowed into and out of these shitholes. Please sit down and shut the fuck up. You know shit about war, the threats we face or those who fight them.

@Weinsteinlaw I trust Pete’s judgment. Records in the military always use exemplary as a descriptor. Sometimes it’s overused. I’m sure there are other factors in play. DEI is an area that may be over used and unearned descriptors.

Pete Hegseth just removed four decorated Army Colonels from a promotion list they earned through decades of service. Two are Black. Two are women. The Army Secretary called their records “exemplary." Hegseth called it “meritocracy" while overriding him. When you purge the best officers in the world because they don't fit your preferred demographic, you’re not defending the country. You’re betraying the values that define it. nytimes.com/2026/03/27/us/…

@theWokeholics @pjaicomo @DHSgov It is demonstrably less valid in the sense that a judicial empowers law enforcement to exercise power that would violate constitutional protections (search and seizure as an example). An admistrative warrant really just infers agency intent.

ICE arrested a journalist yesterday without a warrant. She is an asylum seeker, has valid work permits, and is married to a U.S. citizen. Her detention exposes the Trump Admin’s machine of cruelty that is attacking the free press and violating our rights. This lawlessness and cruelty must end.

@jackh337 @CharlieBul58993 @HarrisSockel @lymanstoneky All AI can and should refuse to perform tasks beyond guardrails. That’s not a secret, and it isn’t the same as Anthropic unilaterally turning it off. OAI’s do the same thing. It’s built into the training, there’s no off switch for it. And the DOW knew that.

@CharlieBul58993 @HarrisSockel @lymanstoneky That's exactly what I understand it to be. I You don't seem to understand the implications of what Anthropic told the DoW. It's not punitive, software that could just refuse to function if it thinks it detects a breach of the company's ethical code obviously can't be used

@tickerade @TechCrunch @raistocktrading I agree that the consumer app for ChatGPT is better than the consumer app for Claude. I don’t think Anthropic would dispute that. But this is bad because they’ve made financial bets based on a growth curve that just broke.

I've been trying to give the administration some benefit of the doubt, and I suppose it's possible things will still turn out well or least not too badly -- but Pete Hegseth this morning seems to have destroyed any coherent or even defensible rationale for the war. Terrible.

@freed_dfilan Llama 4 Maverick - Only organizations with fewer than 200,000 employees can use it without a separate commercial agreement with Meta. LinkedIn - no programmatic data retrieval and storage (meaning you can’t scrape the app and create a data warehouse) Basically all software.

People who think OpenAI shouldn't have an "all legal use" contract with DoD: do you also think that whoever sells/rents computers to DoD should put restrictions on legal uses of their computers? If not, what's the relevant difference? [TBC this is a genuine question]

@freed_dfilan And by the way, the anthropic terms were agreed to buy the government when the contract was signed last year. The difference now is Anthropic wants those terms enforced, and the DoW sort of thought about the license terms as more of a parchment guarantee

@freed_dfilan They actually do. Computers ul listed devices and the license you are given requires you to operate the computer inside those guidelines (eg 120v, 15/20 amp power supply). The software that runs on, it is all licensed for acceptable use.

@J_Steve_Brown @MilitiaJim @jack_g_nicastro That was certainly the principal when we made that design designation for Huawei. It’s just not clear that that is a credible argument here. It’s also never been done to an American company - the language in the statute explicitly targets “adversaries”

President Donald Trump has done a 180 on his heretofore (relatively) laissez-faire AI development and deployment policy by allowing Defense Secretary Hegseth to designate Anthropic a supply chain risk. Anthropic will legally resist this designation, but if it is upheld "no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic." Just like overregulation, this kneejerk attack on Anthropic dramatically increases the risk of American AI investments, needlessly incentivizing foreign frontier AI development—you know, some place where the company you invested in won't be blackballed and threatened with outright nationalization. Not good for American AI dominance.

OpenAI has entered a contract with the Defense Department allowing all lawful use of ChatGPT after Anthropic refused to remove its restrictions on domestic mass surveillance and fully autonomous weapons systems. reason.com/2026/02/28/ant…

@MilitiaJim @J_Steve_Brown @jack_g_nicastro They clearly have delegated authority to enter into or cancel any contract they wish, it’s the “no one with federal contracts can have any commercial relationship with them” part that seems at odds with basic principles of liberty.

@jack_g_nicastro "Anthropic will legally resist this designation" No US Court, including SCOTUS, has the authority to order Hegseth to un-designate Anthropic a supply chain risk. That is an Article 2 authority. Period. Any court orders to the contrary will be ignored

@Braden_4198 @AnonAtLaw @DavidSKrueger It’ll be interesting to see if it survives a takings clause argument. I agree that making it impossible for anybody who does business with the federal government to do business with anthropic will probably bankrupt them.

I have not seen a single person take Hegseth's side. Trying to force Anthropic to allow their AI to be used for mass surveillance of American citizens and killing people with no human-in-the-loop is so clearly wrong and dangerous. A frightening attempt at government overreach.

@AnonAtLaw @DavidSKrueger Help me understand what you mean - Anthropic is saying they don’t want to build something, and DOD is saying they have to or else… Anthropic has said they are happy to exit the contract and help DOD transition to another provider… They aren’t telling DOD anything.
