A recent testimonial resulting from an expert witness report I wrote that helped the litigator obtain a settlement. It’s always a pleasure to help private mortgage investors that have been clearly wronged! #litigation #expertwitness #mortgagebroker

Fun fact: did you know that if you've booked a plane trip with @WestJet with a reasonable one-hour layover, they can unilaterally change your ticket without explanation to make that layover twenty-one and a half hours. And then, they can refuse to provide you with any meal or hotel vouchers and instead just expect you to sit in the Detroit Airport for an entire day to wait for not the earliest available flight (that's only twelve hours away), just the one they feel like putting you on. The receptionist kept putting me on hold to speak to her manager but, per the way these things go, when I asked to speak to the manager she explained there was no manager and no one I could possibly talk to. I explained that, with nowhere to sleep and not a lot to do that I would be devoting my night to seeing just how many customers I could lose WestJet from my Twitter account. I asked the receptionist if maybe she should see if that was okay with her manager; that was when the whole "no manager" thing came out. So, what say you folks? Do you want this to happen to you, your airline just adding an entire day to your trip without notice, compensation of any kind whatsoever? If not, please retweet this post and, if you retweet with a comment, remember to tag @WestJet again.

My latest article is about the Domino Effect of failed real estate transactions. Failed closings from 2022 are working their way through the courts and I was recently hired to offer my expert opinion on one such situation. Have a read: andymacdonald.ca/the-domino-eff… #mortgageexpert

🗣🎙 #TheHerleBurly Greetings, you curiouser and curiouser Herle Burly-ites! I’m genuinely excited to have this man on the show for a conversation that’s both of the moment, and critical. @nenshi, Leader of the Alberta NDP, is here. You know all about Mr. Nenshi and his powerful political brand. Former 3-term Mayor of Calgary. Named best Mayor in the World in 2014! Winner of the Alberta NDP Leadership on the first ballot about a year ago, with over 86% of the vote. He upped that to almost 90% in a leadership review just last weekend at the party’s annual convention. Today, we’ll talk more about his bio, background, and his decision to join the NDP. And then, the issues du jour ... Western alienation, Alberta separatism, and legitimate grievances about oil and gas. And also, what exactly is his argument to replace Premier Smith? (Note: Since recording this episode, we've since been in contact with Premier @ABDanielleSmith's Office and are hopeful to schedule that conversation soon). @TraceyKent @ShaziGoalie There used to be a golf course there called Saw Whet. Shocking that no one wants to live in a shoe box in Oakville for those prices…

@ShaziGoalie Did they run out of names? Or was this named by a developer who when he ran over a large bird with his Lambo, he googled it “Saw Whet Owl” “That’d be a cool name for my next project!”

Toronto Police Association
“Our members are disappointed but not surprised to learn that a man arrested for three separate, random incidents of violence in downtown Toronto was already on bail for other serious charges. In fact, a judge granted bail even though he was wanted in another jurisdiction! When will this revolving door end for this person, and at what point will the safety of our communities and members come first? We know there are pressing issues facing voters in this federal election. But we cannot ignore the changes desperately needed to our justice system, and we hope, at some point, we will hear all parties share their plans for public safety. The victims of these random attacks, and others, deserve to know how their federal government will prevent this from happening again.” - TPA President @TPACampbell ctvnews.ca/toronto/articl…

C-69 is *unconstitutional.* This is not optional, Mr. Carney. I challenged the constitutionality of C-69 (which I labelled the ‘No More Pipelines Law’) as a violation of provincial jurisdiction. The Alberta Court of Appealed agreed on a 4 to 1 judgement, ruling that C-69 was a “constitutional Trojan horse” that “tears apart the constitutional division of powers.” Then the Supreme Court of Canada agreed, ruling on a 5 to 2 judgement that “the balance of (C—69) is ultra vires Parliament and thus unconstitutional.” This was perhaps the most important judicial decision on the division of powers since the adoption of the 1982 Constitution Act. Alberta’s case was supported by 8 of the 9 other provinces. Outrageously, the government has ragged the puck in refusing to repeal or overhaul the Act to bring it into compliance with the decisions of the highest courts in the land. Now Mr. Carney appears to be thumbing his nose at the courts, and the Constitution. The Liberal Party can’t claim to be defenders of the Constitution while flagrantly ignoring the Constitution. You can’t criticize the Trump Administration for threatening to ignore court rulings if you support the Government of Canada in doing the same here. This is not just about the rule of law. I challenged C-69 not just to defend the Constitution, but to defend jobs and economic growth. As I predicted, not a single major project has been approved since C-69 was adopted in 2019. An endless, uncertain, politicized regulatory process is one of the primary reasons for the flight of investment, our failure to develop our massive natural resources (including critical minerals,) and the weakness of the Canadian economy that has made us a target for foreign aggression. Complying with the Constitution isn’t partisan. It’s not ideological. It’s not optional. It’s mandatory.
Paul Vieira@paulvieira

Canada PM Carney: No intention to repeal C-69, but we will remove duplication in terms of environmental assessements and other approvals for energy projects.

Apparently, even though the LCBO has taken American products off their shelves, out of 190 Ontario wines submitted to take their place, only 30 were accepted. We worry about Orange Man Bad, but we shoot ourselves in our own foot.
