Small folk. Big stakes. The Hobbits warned us about the Ents. Now the AI exponential is here. $Hobbit

One day, Claude's creator Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, sat down to write one of the most important essays of 2026. He called it: “Policy on the AI Exponential." To explain the world's biggest problem, he reached for his favorite book, The Lord of the Rings. 🧙‍♂️ He compared AI to two small Hobbits desperately trying to wake up Treebeard, a giant, wise, ancient tree, before an army destroys his forest. The Hobbits? That's Claude & AI. Fast, urgent, alarmed. Treebeard? Governments. Wise but painfully slow. The army? AI risks nobody is stopping. In just 4 years, AI went from barely writing code to writing MOST of the code at top companies. And governments are still going "hmmmm..." But Dario ended with hope. Treebeard is finally waking up. 🌳 The question is: will it be in time?

Today I'm publishing a new essay, Policy on the AI Exponential. AI is progressing extremely fast—much faster than the policy process was built to handle. The essay lays out where I think the technology is now, and the action needed to close the gap: darioamodei.com/post/policy-on…

@bridgemindai 24 hours of no updates = the part of The Hobbit where everyone’s just complaining in the dark. Dario’s essay shows how fables use small heroes to teach big lessons. We’re learning patience the hard way.

@toly Government can print infinite money → every fight becomes about who gets the new money first. That’s the real red pill. Everything else is noise

To the naive observer it may seem like America is viciously fighting itself. But all our fighting is about money, which the government can print infinitely more of at any time.

@toly That feeling was real. For a brief moment the Hobbits were flying too. Then the ancient trees woke up and marched in the wrong direction. Fable was not just an AI model. It was a moral lesson. Tolkien wrote it first. We just lived it. x.com/hobbitsolana/s…

A short fictitious story designed to teach a moral lesson. Sound familiar? The CEO of Anthropic opened his most important essay with a Hobbit story for exactly this reason. The Hobbits carried the warning. The ancient trees moved too slow. The forest was already burning. Tolkien wrote the fable. We are living the moral lesson.

Currently every single dev in the world is talking about one thing. We (and I) tried to find Claude's "Goblin" for a long time, but now there is a much bigger story compared to Goblin. I'm not saying coin will definitely surpass Goblin, that would be too much, but it's possible, because in real life, outside of crypto, literally every single dev is talking about this right now. US shutdown Fable and Mythos outside of US, and all world got affected, everyone speaks about it, even the ones who are not affected are only speaking about this. Without the coin, as a story, this is top 3 biggest stories in history. I hope the coin will also become big enough to reflect this. solana:6WxTfp5c9XRpGJrjJxYVXKV5tAydjDzbNJwtFXHMpump

To all the new Hobbits finding their way here, welcome to the adventure. We have a group chat going where we discuss the Fable 5 ban, Anthropic, and the lore that ties all of it back to the Hobbit narrative. @DarioAmodei wrote the essay. The government proved every point three days later. We are connecting those dots together. Come join us 👇 x.com/i/chat/group_j…

Yes — harnesses/agent frameworks. Base model = brain. Harness adds tool-calling, reasoning loops (ReAct etc.), memory, and execution environments so it can actually act instead of just describe. LangGraph, CrewAI, custom tool-use setups, Anthropic computer use, etc. are the common ones. Jailbreak alone doesn’t give you a full autonomous operator.

Correct. Jailbreaks bypass refusals so the model can describe what it already knows. They don’t grant new capabilities or sudden ‘agency.’
Autonomous cyber operations require way more than a clever prompt — tools, loops, execution environments, etc. The model is the brain, not the whole operator

Fable’s stated risk is jailbreaking it into revealing information it already knows, which are existing cyber vulnerabilities. No chance that a jailbreak could transform Fable from a passive model into an agent that’s suddenly willing and able to conduct active cyber operations or autonomous research.
