People still think the DC suburbs are just highways and cul-de-sacs meanwhile Maryland is casually building massive rail tunnels like this 🤯🚇🔥 The @PurpleLineMD is going to completely change how the region moves around!

The west portal of the @PurpleLineMD Plymouth Tunnel. Located between Plymouth and Arliss Streets, at 2/10th of a mile in length it features a horseshoe-shaped profile measuring roughly 35.6 feet wide by 29 feet high. #bikeDC #PurpleLineMD #LightRailTunnel @purplelinenow

When you travel on the 0.028% of tracks in the USA capable of supporting 160 mph, it feels good to see what train travel was like in Japan in 1964.

It’s hard to believe that Britain is yet again looking for a new Prime Minister. As a British friend says: It’s like playing a board game called “No Cluedo” #NoClue

The main waiting room at Washington Union Station would be a great place to wait for a train, except, the only place to sit is in a cramped, windowless, former store on the former concourse, turned into a mall. Please, bring back the benches. @amtrak @secduffy

It was an exciting afternoon in Silver Spring as we reached another milestone in the Purple Line's construction. The last track has been laid, and testing can soon begin. Thank you to everyone who came out today to be part of the celebration.

With rising gas prices and airline tickets, imagine if we had a much better developed rail network in the U.S. with modern facilities and fast reliable trains?
