@soleio 💯 I believe designers trying to use ‘taste’ as a moat in these AI times is only going to hurt them.

@adriankuleszo It’s like a capsule wardrobe. Master the use of four or five color pallets and master the use of three or four fonts and you have a strong flexible base to create amazing products and visuals with enough variety.

The more experienced I grow as a designer, the more I appreciate the simplest solutions, clean designs, no cognitive overload. Spent years overdesigning everything. Now I strip things down until there's nothing left to remove. Better results every time 🤷‍♂️

@darylginn It's a problem in every creative vertical. YouTube is a great example. You'll see one of the bigger or more creative creators make a video, and like clockwork 3-4 hours later, all the smaller channels in the category release an oddly similar one. I'm just sayin...

I feel like there needs to be an open source list of all these designers constantly stealing others’ work on this platform. I’m seeing it daily now and it’s disgusting. They all need shame and mass blocking.

Robinhood refused a buy order, didn't notify me, withdrew my money anyways, and cost me over $10k in lost gains in the last 24 hours. What the hell should I be using instead?

Been off Design Twitter for 5 months… just locked in and working. Here’s what went down: • Hit $25K on Contra • Got the opportunity to work with Framer • Shipped 2 major projects and other minor projects • Collaborated with amazing talent at @kargulstudio • Made great friends like @danieldesignzz while building • Moved to a new city + got my own apartment And a lot more behind the scenes. I’m back now. Let’s dominate.

@DannPetty Claude isn’t there yet when it comes to cost/availability but it’s getting there. Honestly, Codex is the only usable one right now.

I'm worried about Figma Make failing here. Credits are way too expensive and go by too fast. I pay $240/M for 10K credits (on top of whatever I already pay Figma). 10K credits ran out in 2 hours on Version 11. That's unusable right there. They reset every 10 days. TEN DAYS!

@desgnwitkinsley IMO, anything past a click-through prototype or a simple linear interaction Figma has always been a subpar prototyping tool. But it’s what we had.

@connorpaton I’d be down next time you do it. I’ve been really enjoying the St. Franks in the sunset if you want a bit more energy or Bazar cafe if you want some super chill. Plus, a backyard garden.

@zuess05 A lot of my early career was in B2C. It's a much harder hill to climb because generally consumers don't want to pay for things. My best advice there is to lean into the freemium model and offer really cheap paid plans.

Spent some time rebuilding my personal site just to see if I could ditch Webflow for AI + a headless CMS. Nothing flashy or complex. TLDR: wouldn't recommend it if you value your time or maintainability. Good learning exercise for those who want to start learning how web dev works under the hood. I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone push their team or clients to do this. mike.today

@atmoio AI doesn’t solve, or really even help that much with the distribution problem. That’s really where the rubber meets the road.

there’s a sort of permanent valley of despair i’m seeing a lot of non-technical people who are building software fall into. they have a wonderful time vibecoding the thing. but when they reach the point where everything is functionally correct, they have no idea what to do next. they have no idea how to go from having a product to actually getting people to use or pay for it. it’s not something an agent can help with because it’s the part of the job that requires you to go soak yourself in present, dynamic reality and learn how to change yourself and your product to satisfy a market need. it’s a very painful and slow process many builders get out of the way in their twenties. and now you have a bunch of middle aged men with kids and a mortgage trying to navigate this, and it’s not really working out too well for them. it’s why everyone is talking about what they’re building but no one is shipping.
