@eurofounder Any quality European insurance refunds and covers the costs abroad. I have traveled to the US literally hundreds of times covered by my European insurance with excellent care and support when needed. Why did you call Lufthansa instead of your insurance?

My wife collapsed in our hotel room in New York today “Call an ambulance, I can’t breathe” she was screaming My heart dropped If she ends up in an American hospital we are financially ruined I went on the Lufthansa app to book a flight back to Frankfurt, but unfortunately pilots are on strike today “Please I’m begging you” she was lying on the floor I sighed and called 911 She is now in surgery as apparently her appendix “almost burst” I am extremely scared This is going to cost us at least $100,000 She could have received much better care, for free, in Germany I will never visit this barbaric country ever again

Manchester United's players have been warned they'll be banned for up to 18 games if they breath air during the remaining fixtures. It's a new rule introduced this week. It will apply to United, but not opponents.

@Alejandro_SocEU From the same source: The deficit rises to 36.78 billion euro. This, despite massive tax hikes and the EU fund inflow. The deficit to GDP only moderates due to higher inflation than the euro area in the denominator. You are welcome.

Nothing too complicated. Original process was export mailbox into files (can do this from most providers) and outputted a csv transaction log from my bank and then put this in the same folder You can open cowork in a folder and just explained what I wanted to do - extract invoice attachments from emails and match to transactions. I asked it to create a tracker spreadsheet which it did Then it just set about working through emails and the transaction history, reading the pdf invoices, then renaming them and filing them by supplier, and updating the tracker. Once it did that I asked it which ones were missing by supplier so I can log in, download the invoices, then just drop them in the chat and it files them on the right place. Genuinely awesome!!

I thought this for ages, then at the weekend I had to do my book keeping and I gave it access to a folder of my downloaded emails and a copy of transactions and it did all the matching, told me which ones were missing etc. it was excellent Recommend mbsync now for flat file mail (and manual sync) so if it decides to go rogue and delete everything it won’t push to server without my say so.

Today, Telegram notified all its users in Spain with this alert: Pedro Sánchez’s government is pushing dangerous new regulations that threaten your internet freedoms. Announced just yesterday, these measures could turn Spain into a surveillance state under the guise of “protection.” Here’s why they’re a red flag for free speech and privacy: 1. Ban on social media for under-16s with mandatory age verification: This isn’t just about kids—it requires platforms to use strict checks, like needing IDs or biometrics. ⚠️ Danger: It sets a precedent for tracking EVERY user’s identity, eroding anonymity and opening doors to mass data collection. What starts with minors could expand to all, stifling open discourse. 2. Personal and criminal liability for platform executives: If “illegal, hateful, or harmful” content isn’t removed fast enough, bosses face jail. ⚠️ Danger: This will force over-censorship—platforms will delete anything remotely controversial to avoid risks, silencing political dissent, journalism, and everyday opinions. Your voice could be next if it challenges the status quo. 3. Criminalizing algorithm amplification: Amplifying “harmful” content via algorithms becomes a crime. ⚠️ Danger: Governments will dictate what you see, burying opposing views and creating echo chambers controlled by the state. Free exploration of ideas? Gone—replaced by curated propaganda. 4. “Hate and polarization footprint” tracking: Platforms must monitor and report how they “fuel division.” ⚠️ Danger: Vague definitions of “hate” could label criticism of the government as divisive, leading to shutdowns or fines. This can be a tool for suppressing opposition. These aren’t safeguards; they’re steps toward total control. We’ve seen this playbook before—governments weaponizing “safety” to censor critics. On Telegram, we prioritize your privacy and freedom: strong encryption, no backdoors, and resistance to overreach. ✊ Stay vigilant, Spain. Demand transparency and fight for your rights. Share this widely—before it’s too late.

Sánchez is the true fascist totalitarian
Ian Miles Cheong@ianmiles

Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez just declared war on the open internet. Under the guise of "safety" and "accountability," his government is launching a full-scale assault on free speech, specifically targeting platforms that refuse to bend the knee to state-approved narratives. In a direct hit to the "freedom of reach," Spain will now criminalize the amplification of content the state deems "illegal." This gives the government the power to dictate how software is written. If an algorithm happens to show a truth that makes the ruling party look bad, it’s a "criminal offense." Under the pretext of "protecting the children," Spain is banning anyone under 16 from social media and demanding "real barriers" for age verification. This is a massive Trojan Horse for a National Digital ID. To "save the kids," Sánchez is effectively demanding that every Spanish citizen hand over their private biometric or legal data just to scroll a feed. He has also vowed to make platform executives like Elon Musk legally accountable for what users post, effectively holding tech leaders’ personal freedom hostage. It’s a transparent attempt to force Silicon Valley (and Austin) to build "kill switches" for any content the Spanish government doesn't like. Sánchez dropped the mask at the end, specifically naming Grok, the one AI committed to the unvarnished truth, alongside TikTok and Instagram for investigation.

If the Second Amendment does not apply to this exact kind of moment, what do people think it is for? A citizen can lawfully carry, see masked federal agents beating someone in public, move toward the scene to help, and then get erased with a hail of bullets because “he had a gun.” That excuse is an insult in a country where possession is legal by design, where the whole point is that the public never becomes a disarmed audience watching state power operate with impunity. I’m not interested in arguing frame-by-frame footage. I’m interested in the principle that a free people cannot accept a standard where lawful carry becomes a death sentence the second authority feels threatened. If that is the standard, then the 2nd Amendment has been reduced to a vibe. The founders did not write it so Republicans could do militia cosplay on weekends.

🇫🇷 Another tragic evening in Lyon, France - holding on by a thread: A society buckling under the unbearable weight of free healthcare, paid parental leave, nine weeks of vacation, reliable public transport, and the extremist idea that citizens shouldn’t live in constant fear of the state. Meanwhile elsewhere, real strength prevails. People enjoy the comforting simplicity of knowing exactly what they’re allowed to say, think, and post. Journalists experience the adrenaline rush of legal ambiguity. Critics win surprise travel packages to distant regions. Elections are streamlined, decisive, and emotionally undemanding. Back in Lyon, residents continue to suffer through tedious stability, supermarkets fully stocked, and the psychological toll of choosing between twenty kinds of bread, hundreds of different cheese and an unreasonable number of wines. No loyalty oaths. No compulsory patriotism. No nightly reminder that civilization is about to collapse any minute now. Experts warn that if this recklessness continues, Europeans may begin to believe that life can be predictable, safe, and quietly pleasant - without fear. A deeply dangerous precedent for strongman economies everywhere.

Joint statement from European leaders in Berlin this evening: — ”The Leaders welcomed significant progress on President Trump’s efforts to secure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. They also welcomed the close work between President Zelenskyy’s and President Trump’s teams as well as European teams over the recent days and weeks. They agreed to work together with President Trump and President Zelenskyy to get to a lasting peace which preserves Ukrainian sovereignty and European security. Leaders appreciated the strong convergence between the United States, Ukraine and Europe. Leaders agreed that ensuring the security, sovereignty, and prosperity of Ukraine was integral for wider Euro-Atlantic security. They were clear that Ukraine and its people deserved a prosperous, independent, and sovereign future, free from fear of future Russian aggression.  Both the US and European leaders committed to work together to provide robust security guarantees and economic recovery support measures for Ukraine in the context of an agreement on ending the war. This would include commitments to:  - Provide sustained and significant support to Ukraine to build its armed forces, which should remain at a peacetime level of 800,000 to be able to deter conflict and defend Ukraine’s territory.  - A European-led ‘multinational force Ukraine’ made up from contributions from willing nations within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing and supported by the US. It will assist in the regeneration of Ukraine’s forces, in securing Ukraine’s skies, and in supporting safer seas, including through operating inside Ukraine.  - A US led ceasefire monitoring and verification mechanism with international participation to provide early warning of any future attack and attribute and respond to any breaches along with a deconfliction mechanism to work on mutual deescalatory actions that can be taken to benefit all parties. - A legally binding commitment, subject to national procedures, to take measures to restore peace and security in the case of a future armed attack. These measures may include armed force, intelligence and logistical assistance, economic and diplomatic actions.  - Invest in the future prosperity of Ukraine, including making major resources available for recovery and reconstruction, mutually beneficial trade agreements, and taking into account the need for Russia to compensate Ukraine for the damage caused. In this vein, Russian sovereign assets in the European Union have been immobilised. - Strongly support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.    The leaders expressed their support for President Zelenskyy and agreed to support whatever decisions he ultimately makes on specific Ukrainian issues. They reaffirmed that international borders must not be changed by force. Decisions on territory are for the people of Ukraine, once robust security guarantees are effectively in place. They agreed that some issues would need to be resolved in the final stages of negotiations. They underlined that they would support President Zelenskyy to consult his people if needed. They were clear that as in any deal, nothing is agreed until everything is agreed and that all parties must work intensively towards a solution that could assure a lasting end to the fighting.  They were also clear that any deal should protect the long-term security and unity of the Euro-Atlantic and the role of NATO in providing robust deterrence. They stated that any elements affecting the EU and NATO will be discussed among EU and NATO members respectively. It is now incumbent upon Russia to show willingness to work towards a lasting peace by agreeing to President Trump’s peace plan and to demonstrate their commitment to end the fighting by agreeing to a ceasefire. Leaders agreed to continue to increase pressure on Russia to bring Moscow to negotiate in earnest. (1/2)
