I enjoyed talking with Simon Nadel from St Mary's, Paddington, where in 1992 a paeds ICU was created to deal with deadly meningitis cases from across south east of England. The teams work saw death rates fall and remains the standard of care today: thetimes.com/article/29b1f9…

Whilst I sympathise with this Financial Times readers craving for autonomy, 'suffering palliative care' & being forced to be 'a burden with a slow & painful death' is repeating some of the spin that has brought us here. Bad deaths unusual in areas with access to palliative care.

I have grave concerns about the assisted dying bill. I hope they are seriously considering coercive control. The research around victims receiving end of life care is deeply concerning. So many victims already take their own lives pushed into it by relentless abuse. Domestic abuse escalates for terminally ill victims. But I’m not seeing this given attention.
