I'm not gonna lie, the @Meta layoffs are some of the most dystopian I've ever seen. They got told to work from home, they were sent the emails at 4AM in the morning. Those who weren't impacted have software on their computer that tracks their every move, preparing AI to take their job as well. They're literally training the AI that will eliminate their position as well. Meanwhile, Meta is raking in RECORD PROFITS. I am a massive, unapologetic AI enthusiast. Yet, this is NOT the future I had in mind. I wish for Meta to crash and burn. This is not the way. Literally nobody benefits from this.

If you don't want a nagging wife, please stay far from traditional Chinese women. Already in early 1990s I often went to eat to a local Chinese restaurant, which had 3 generations of Chinese extended family running it. Oh, the amount of yelling especially from the elderly women coming from the kitchen. They didn't yell at the customers, but at each other. 😀 You are correct that most Western people are likely to meet an Asian woman in a large city, which is full of Western influence e.g. in China that would be Shanghai. They will be far more modern, Western and "liberalized" than the country-side equivalents. Plusses and minuses. I would in fact advice my sons not to seek women in the largest Chinese megacities or similar locations - as you might very well end up with a woman, who has many of the same minuses the modern Western woman, plus end up divorced. Get a traditional wife from smaller place, and learn to live with the nagging! 😀 oh and the fact that woman might want to control the house's finances and might expect a bride price.

Yes. You want to marry the best woman you can because it is the most important decision you will make in your life. Limiting yourself to 1 race really cuts down on who you can date today in many countries. If I had only dated euro whites I would’ve dated ~80% fewer women.

#Casteism In Mathura, the wedding procession of two Dalit sisters was allegedly attacked after they rode a "Horse Baggi" for the traditional Binoli ceremony. Stones were pelted, baraatis assaulted, women attacked and Babasaheb Ambedkar’s portrait on the Baggi was vandalized.

Let me tell you how it happened. Nigeria’s ginger export hit zero from N26 billion within 3 years. The official story blames fungal blight. But here is what actually happened. When Nigerian farmers lost their indigenous seed supply, grant-aided interventions arrived with replacement seeds. An associate professor at Lagos Business School flagged publicly that some of those interventions involved GMO organisms that weakened indigenous crops and compromised soil health. That is not a conspiracy theory because it is a documented academic concern. Now that Nigeria spoke got destroyed by the GMO seedlings….what is not the result? Nigeria was forced to import ginger from China to fill domestic demand. Chinese ginger has none of the pungency, oleoresin content, or quality that made Nigerian ginger a global premium product. And the ginger now sitting in Nigerian markets tastes like wood because it essentially is wood. The two indigenous varieties that built Nigeria’s global ginger reputation, the Tafin Giwa and Yatsun Biri, had decades of soil relationship and quality built into them. Once the soil was degraded and those seed varieties were displaced, the product that returned was a pale imitation. Nigeria did not just lose a market. It lost a seed. And without a National Ginger Seed Bank, which nobody has built, it may never fully get it back.

Today, I continued the public lecture series at the Ernest Bai Koroma University, Port Loko Campus, on the theme “Women: Building Today, Transforming Tomorrow.” The focus of our discussion was the role of women in nation building. Women are not only caregivers and nurturers within families, but also educators, entrepreneurs, leaders, and agents of change in every sector of society. Building today means ensuring that girls have access to quality education, healthcare, and protection from violence and discrimination. It means creating an environment where women can pursue their ambitions without fear or limitation. With the enactment of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act, Sierra Leone has taken a decisive step toward dismantling these barriers. The responsibility now rests on all of us to translate this law into real opportunities for women and girls across the country. To my students, you are the future leaders, policymakers, and changemakers of Sierra Leone. I urge you to carry this message forward: nation building is incomplete without women at the center. Support one another, lead with integrity, and take your rightful place in shaping the future of our nation. May we all commit to building today, so that tomorrow belongs to every Sierra Leonean woman and girl. FMB.

I’m listening to Fatima Bio’s recent interview with Megha Mohan on the BBC, and I must say, she is very intelligent. The way she answered tricky questions and articulated her ambitions was fascinating. She possesses a kind of knowledge that isn’t taught in the classroom.

Would have never expected Will.i.am to make an actual decent philosophical point on the meaning of freedom in China (vs the vile Bill Maher...) but here we are 👇 Worth mentioning that the meaning of freedom also evolved quite dramatically in the West over the recent past. Now it overwhelmingly means individual freedom but it wasn't always the case. If you re-listen, for instance, to Franklin D. Roosevelt's famous "Four Freedoms" speech, 2 of his 4 freedoms - which to him constituted the definition of "freedom" - were actually collective freedoms: namely freedom from fear and freedom from want. How free are you really if you don't have security, if your streets are so unsafe you don't feel you can walk freely outside? And how free are you really if you're poor in a society where doing anything costs money? You are technically free to do anything but, practically-speaking, you can't: you are in fact a slave of your material condition. Same thing in France, hence our national motto: "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité". Freedom/liberty was always meant to be balanced against collective interests: equality between people and fraternity towards your fellow citizens. Or you could be speaking about literal personal freedom: can a country like the U.S., with by far the largest incarceration rates - the most people in cages - of any big country (350% higher than China, per capita: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_c…) be genuinely considered the "land of the free"? Which is why Maher's points - that "freedom is freedom", that the U.S. "generally has more freedom than others" and that the Chinese are "too brainwashed" to understand freedom - are so painfully shallow and so ironic. They betray a man who has obviously never put a single thought into the concept, and chose to swallow his own country's official propaganda straight from the firehose. Will.i.am, on the other hand, went to China, looked at the facts beyond the caricature, and arrived at his own thoughtful conclusion. That's what freedom of mind actually looks like.

#Togo #Afrique #integration #Libre #panafricanism #voyage #cooperation
