The Farm Bill passed the House with three of my amendments attached. The first amendment establishes the USDA Office of Seafood in federal law for the first time, giving South Carolina's shrimpers and fishermen a permanent home within the department. The second opens USDA loan programs to commercial fishing and seafood operations, putting the farmers of the sea on equal footing with the farmers of the soil. The third is Violet's Law, which requires every federal agency to release retired research animals into homes. South Carolina's coast has a seat at the table. We're just getting started.
