Speaking earlier in the Oval Office, President Trump called the ballroom being constructed to replace the White House East Wing a “gift,” while adding that it will have bulletproof glass and walls, along with a “drone port” which Trump says was supposed to be Top Secret.

@MikeIsaac Did he send it from his giant yacht with it's emotional support yacht? Work/life balance is important when making these tough decisions like laying a bunch of people off in a declining economy.

Zuckerberg just sent out a company wide email addressing the layoffs, which i've obtained from a few sources in it he expresses his "gratitude" and that it's "sad" to say goodbye to folks but that now is the most "dynamic" he's seen teh industry and that "success isnt a given"

@PhilipTKingston Also, as a person that buys apples sometimes it should seem fairly obvious to anyone why schools buy Red Delicious apples. They are both cheap and last a long time, two things that are absolutely not true about my preferred apple, the Honeycrisp.

@ZacksJerryRig Really insulting to all of us who work in public service for a fraction of the salary of a member of congress who is supposed to primarily serve the interest all of their constituents. Ask him about how all of us are supposed to be sacrificing to pay for Trump’s war and ballroom.

@PhilipTKingston All of Avride's cars have safety drivers so it's really impressive that their technology managed to both not eliminate the driver but also make it less safe.

@newanimeavi @zacharywefel ChatGPT says data centers use a total of ~5% of electricity in the US, and this could grow to ~10% by 2030. That does not seem that gargantuan to me.

It's wild that we are having an environmental panic about data centers — a carbon-free industrial facility that during ordinary operation consumes no natural resources besides electricity and water and emits no waste products besides heat.

@MikeIsaac When the Tesla board has done nothing but show complete and utter fealty to Musk, often to an embarrassingly level considering that they are supposed to at least show a fig leaf to independent governance of a public company, I don't see how a board seat would be appealing.

The Tesla offer is interesting. Musk's offer of a board seat, Altman said, was something he felt was to assuage concerns that Altman would have no direction over the development of A.I. if it were folded into Tesla. But Altman also said it appeared to be a nascent threat. If Altman had not accepted the idea, according to him, Musk hinted that he may have done work developing A.I. on his own at Tesla regardless. This sort of talk is fairly commonplace these days on the battlefield that is Silicon Valley. Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's C.E.O., has in the past made overtures to companies he's interested in acquiring, though he is often more explicit about his intentions: If you don't take the deal, we'll come for you. tony soprano vibes

If I had a choice between Tesla and BYD on an open market, I would choose BYD. First off, it’s a better car. Second, while I’m not a fan of the Chinese political system, I’m even less a fan of the South African white nationalist.

@tonyannett Separate the politics from the owner and founder. No one refuses to buy an F-150 because Henry Ford was an antisemite.

@HeerJeet It's not illiteracy, it's a deliberate attempt to see how far they can push their flock to rejecting their supposed religion and replace it with themselves. It's the same with every cult and "religious" sexual predator and scam artist.

@jmckee @jbarro yeah no lol. straight men just understand that becoming financially secure at this point requires investing/gambling. gays seem to not understand that to their own detriment.

@fakedansavage Wasn’t the fun of YMCA always that straight people didn’t understand the gay subtext? And even after they thought that they did, not really? We will survive, with better anthems.
