@Wikkedegg @05FLHP @nut_history Tag must beat the runner or must happen before the runner touches the plate, the rules say. So if the runner tags the plate simultaneously to being tagged, he is safe.

@nut_history @sharpchr81 Have to lean towards safe, since I can’t be sure with either angle. If I was the replay ump, the call would stand whatever it was, nothing clear & obvious.

@DevinSlyhide7 @evil_liz @CMRagan75 @Jomboy_ 1) The manager kept saying that this is the 3rd base umps call. I think the home plate ump can make that call too. 2) I have always felt the obstructed runner should be awarded the base he was trying to get to, even when retreating, but what if another runner was already there?

@joefrl @evil_liz @CMRagan75 @Jomboy_ What are your thoughts on the posted call? Personally. I understand the obstruction ruling is applicable. How do you feel about out a tag out being called that way and the run given?

@DevinSlyhide7 @evil_liz @CMRagan75 @Jomboy_ Obstruction can be called anywhere, yes. Away from the bases only if the runner is forced to deviate around a fielder who doesn’t have the ball or if they collide. However, the runner can’t deviate to initiate contact.

@joefrl @evil_liz @CMRagan75 @Jomboy_ Went through the obstruction rule. Lots left to the umps discretion by the sounds of it. Technically it could be called obstruction 8’ from a bag. As I understand the rule the way it was written.

@DevinSlyhide7 @evil_liz @CMRagan75 @Jomboy_ At the bases, you can’t set up in the path of the runner without the ball. Keep your feet out of the way. Not much to ask. Away from the bases, the runner has to collide with an obstructing fielder (who doesn’t have the ball) or deviate around him for obstruction to be called.

@evil_liz @CMRagan75 @Jomboy_ So what if this happened directly on the baseline 8’ from the base? That’s still obstruction? I have not read the rule. Is it only if the fielder is touching the bag? Like I said. What if it was 8’ further forward? Can only tag from behind now?😂

@scott_landmann @TheEXECUTlONER_ It’s not possible that the purple car would not see the yellow car. Anyway the answer here is it would be the Purple car’s fault. It is illegal to enter an interception before it has cleared. You wait until the light turns green & the intersection has cleared.

@TheEXECUTlONER_ Here’s why what he is saying is dumb. Intersection below. Yellow car pulls into intersection to “control” it. Light turns red. Soon as it’s clear, they go. Purple car (who can’t see you) goes. They had the green. Guess who’s paying and getting charged.

This man finds it extremely aggravating when you are in a left hand turn lane and the car in front stops at the white line. He says you pull into the middle of the intersection and take control of the intersection and wait there. If oncoming traffic doesn’t let up, you turn as the light is about to turn red and oncoming traffic stops. Many said that defensive driving classes tell you to stay behind the white line until you can make a turn and have a safe exit and this causes accidents. He says that any CDL class will tell you to take control of the intersection and pull up to the middle of it, that way everyone isn’t waiting three rotations to get through the light. What do you do? How do you drive? Do you stay behind the white line or do you pull into the intersection?

No, that's an ordinary effort play. The funny part is that this is Junior Caminero at bat, and he has had FOUR errors removed defensively on scoring changes this year. Baseball gods giveth, and they taketh.

@CregStephenson @CrosbyBaseball There are other ways to get an out without the ball in a mitt. Interference, strikeout with a runner at 1st and less than two out even if the pitch is not caught, batted ball hitting a runner…

@CrosbyBaseball It counts as an out, so no. Basically, the rule exists because an out has to end with the ball in someone’s glove (I guess the lone exception would be a fouled-off bunt with two strikes).

The NFL’s viewpoint on adding more games to standalone windows, including Wednesdays, is that “more football for fans is only a good thing,” NFL executive Hans Schroeder said today. The league believes that is being validated by the ratings it continues to generate. At this point, the league does not appear to believe there’s a tipping point where it starts to feel excessive.

@TheEXECUTlONER_ Remember, you have to have clear & obvious evidence to reverse a call. You don’t have that here. Clear & obvious means clear & obvious.

This obvious and conclusive evidence which did not overturn the wrong call is getting out of hand in MLB. Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch was ejected after the Tigers lost their challenge on an out call at third base. Just get rid of replay then if you have people in the replay booth that cannot tell an obvious safe or out call. What is MLB even doing? There’s no reason, other than the umpires protecting themselves, for a call like this not to be corrected after review. How do you get it wrong with a replay? Do you think baseball should keep replay or just trash it all together and go back to human error with the umpires and the call is the call?
👉M-Û-R-Č-H👈@TheEXECUTlONER_

This happened during the Cubs vs Rangers game. A grounder to first and the first baseman throws home to get the out at home plate. Catcher applies the tag, the runner is called safe. Replay clearly shows the runner is out. The Cubs challenge the call and are confident it is going to be overturned. After replay, the runner is called safe! 🤯 How can the replay booth who has every angle in the book at their disposal (not that you needed more than one) botch this call after the umpire just botched it? Do people lose their jobs over this? Have you seen a more terrible call ever in the replay challenge era?

@KVN_03 If there is any chance a ball is a fumble, the play should not be blown dead. When defenses recover a fumble and have a clear path to the endzone but it is blown dead because they don't think it's a fumble, it could be taking a whole TD off the board.

@langton1129 @KVN_03 DPI max 20 yards, I would say. We don’t want the defense intentionally interfering when they get beat to just give up 10 yards.

@KVN_03 @dgmccready Not a good reason to support this rule; defense has every rule against them. Rules have to be logical and make sense. Defense needs to gain possession of the ball for a turnover. Offense needs to gain possession of the ball for a TD, no exceptions.

See I’m for this. Here is the why… defense has every rule against them. The ball is the most important thing in the world in football. Don’t do all the work to get down there only to be lazy and careless with the ball and fumble or drop the ball before the goal line . Unacceptable!

@KVN_03 With an illegal kick off OOB, make it that the ball itself has to go OOB, not the player fielding it, just like college does it. Also, when the kicking team gains possession of a punt beyond the LOS, make it a dead ball immediately, no exceptions!
