The administration, and particularly whoever runs the White House Twitter account, is full of the dumbest people on the planet.

I don’t care what the circumstances around this shooting are. The one thing that’s clear from the video is that these ICE agents are incredibly untrained, violent, and have absolutely no clue what they are doing. ICE needs to get out of Minnesota now. They are making all of us less safe with their recklessness.

The last 3 years have been the hottest 3 years ever recorded. We get one cold snap and the White House calls global warming a hoax. I would say unbelievable, but it’s completely on brand.

NOAA is about to roll out the new GFS/GEFS AI weather models on December 17th ⬇️ - AIGFS is an AI version of the GFS model. Its built on Google DeepMind's GraphCast and was trained on a mix of NOAA's GFS data plus ERA5 and HRES data from the European center. It runs four times a day and puts out 6 hourly forecasts going out 16 days. - AIGEFS is the ensemble version of that. It runs 31 different members with the same 16 day range. - HGEFS takes those 31 AI members from AIGEFS and combines them with the 31 members from the traditional physics based GEFS. So you get a 62 member grand ensemble that blends AI and conventional modeling together. This one goes out 10 days. Available parameters include temperature, u and v wind components, geopotential height, specific humidity, vertical velocity, mean sea level pressure, and total precipitation. Data is output on a 0.25 degree lat lon grid at the surface and on pressure levels at 1000, 925, 850, 700, 600, 500, 400, 300, 250, 200, 150, 100, and 50mb. The evaluation period actually started on December 9th so the data is already available on NOMADS if you want to check it out before they go fully operational next week (nomads.ncep.noaa.gov). This is the first time NOAA is making AI models fully operational. Should be interesting to see how they perform against the traditional physics based models. Again, political violence has no place in this country. I probably don’t agree with Charlie Kirk on a damn thing, but that doesn’t matter - he’s a husband and a father. This is despicable and can’t become our new normal.

By now some folks have probably seen early versions of Report Buddy floating around. Holden snagged the first tornado pic with it. Ill be open sourcing the code that started as a personal replacement/enhancment for spotter network and mping. adlyons.github.io/report_buddy.h…

@SkyPixWeather @TwisterKidMedia I’m just thinking of the process people are willing to go through with SN just to report junk, in this it looks like the barrier to entry here is a social media account, correct?

@TwisterKidMedia Using Twitter, but if this will save time/effort & all NWS ofcs have access, I’ll try it. Qs: 1. Lat/lon is for spotter not event, right? 2. How false-report-proof is it (someone can’t fabricate a lat lon & send fake report like in SN)? 3. When no cell signal, saves for later?

July 20, 1969. “Contact light, engine stop.” The Apollo 11 lunar module Eagle touched down at Tranquility Base on the Moon. A few hours later, Neil Armstrong and I stepped foot on the Moon, with Michael Collins orbiting close-by. An achievement resulting from years of incalculable effort, commitment, and team work. We all did our part to see President Kennedy’s words become reality: “We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others too.” I couldn’t be prouder to have completed this mission with the hundreds of thousands of people that helped get us to the moon and back home. God bless the USA and all of humankind.
