This should cause a lot more questions in Canada. My sense is that almost no one knows about this here?

This is such an unbelievably dark timeline. Would have been too marcabre and far-fetched an episode for Black Mirror in 2012.

Chief Rosanne Casimir claims a 1.25 million hectare title area, 50% revenue sharing, and Indigenous laws standing alongside Canadian law will bring “certainty.”
British Columbians should read that carefully.
This was supposed to be about consultation. Now it’s being framed as shared authority, while people are told not to worry about their homes or businesses. You should absolutely be worried about your future.
This concentrates power over land, resources, and decision-making across a massive region, without a public mandate.
That should concern everyone.

@tobi @HarryBingus Make Canada more productive and prosperous and then we have affordable housing. The Liberals have destroyed Canadas economy during the last 15 years….and it’s not getting any better.
English

@HarryBingus Affordable housing is 100% grift and fake. The way to make housing affordable is to make it more straightforward and profitable to build housing. The prices will go down. Replicated in every place and every time it’s tired.

No hanlans point ferry, no affordable housing in the portlands, but this bald albino reptile can catch a direct flight to the bahamas at everyone else's expense 👍🏻

Canada is now a net importer of electricity. Yet you have governments in BC banning cheap and abundant natural gas in new homes.
Heather Exner-Pirot@ExnerPirot
The electricity abundance and affordability that Canada has enjoyed for decades are ending. Generation is down, exports are now imports, and investment is flat. Canada’s impending electricity shortage is not just an affordability crisis; it is an economic and security one as well. @SteveSaretsky How long will it be until we replace the fuckwits running both the Federal and Provincial governments?

B.C. LAND GRABS: “It is a threat.”
During an @NCICanada hearing, BC Conservative Leader Candidate, Kerry-Lynne Findlay, testified to how she and others lost their homes under a Musqueam land dispute.
“Appraisers could not give a fair market value under Aboriginal governance.”

Canada has a weird civilizational glitch where extreme restrictions on traditional vices like drinking and smoking exist right beside extreme permissiveness over radical progressive social decay.
24-hour taxpayer-funded crack pipe vending machines are normal but liquor stores shut down at 11pm. Anti-smoking laws are among the strictest on earth yet a doctor can legally euthanize you on the same day of your request.
Puberty blockers for kids are treated as progressive healthcare that needs to be more accessible while they throw up huge barriers to access nicotine pouches.
It’s the strangest inversion of priorities imaginable. Sometimes I think it’s a combination of Anglo Protestant moralism and bureaucratic socialism, but whatever the root cause, Canada manages to be simultaneously puritanical and nihilistic in a way that almost no other country is

@ronmortgageguy Thanks Ron. They have people trying to do jobs that are way above their pay grade. They recently tried to tax me twice on investment income that was already in a previous return. Simple resolution but took weeks to explain the double counting. Madness.

.@TrevHal says “there’s no possible way” only a junior BC staffer was briefed by federal government on Musqueam agreement weeks ago and didn’t tell anyone else in BC government, as @Dave_Eby and @SChandraHerbert claimed today.
“I don’t buy it,” he says.

Aboriginal law expert, Tom Isaac on the recent Musqueam First Nation agreements:
“It is, from a process point of view, it’s, and I’ll say it again, absolutely unacceptable that public democratic governments are entering into agreements acknowledging Aboriginal title in any form when it’s an exclusive right to land, according to the Supreme Court of Canada, without consulting in some way with their constituency, which is the public”

The federal government is refusing to publicly release an agreement with the Musqueam Band that recognizes Aboriginal title over a vast area of Metro Vancouver.
What is perhaps more perplexing is no mainstream media outlet has even reported on this agreement. dailyhive.com/vancouver/musq…

15 years ago, yogurt maker Chobani tried to enter Canada and build a plant in Kingston, Ontario, but was blocked by regulatory and supply management barriers.
Instead of fighting it long-term, they expanded elsewhere, in the United States.
Today:
➡️They buy about 9% of all the milk produced in New York State.
➡️They process 1.6 billion pounds of milk per year in New York.
➡️They built the world’s largest yogurt plant in Idaho.
➡️They’re now building an even bigger one in Rome, New York (over 2 million square feet, 1,000+ jobs).
That is the true cost of supply management.
