I must say I am *shocked* at how many of the highly ‘virtuous and kind’ left wing media and establishment politicians have revealed they view living near asylum seekers is a “punishment”. Whoever would have thought!

The left have exposed themselves… and all it took was a clever Reform UK trap. They want working class communities to have the migrant accommodation, not them.

Nobody knows better than this guy how unfair the system is and what we should do to make it work for ordinary people. If Gary Stevenson says we should vote Green, we should vote Green!

Rumours suggest Angela Rayner could take over from Rachel Reeves as Chancellor. She left Avondale High School in Stockport at 16, pregnant and with no qualifications. She later studied part-time at Stockport College, where she learned British Sign Language and gained an NVQ Level 2 in social care. She never went to university. She has no financial services experience.

I’ve met people like him, who argue the same way. They’re bullshitters! Notice to constant talking over and deliberate misinterpreting. Stephen isn’t thick, he’s a bullshit artist. They don’t argue, they bully. Sadly, this comes across as clever by many people, even so-called “educated” people. This is the type of socialist who governs our country. Bullshit artists who have a victim complex.

@boot15_vu @sumtakenote Could not agree more. What boils my wee is that Starmer should not be rewarded with staying in a job with his performance because the replacements are worse. Was that ever considered when they went after Johnson? Was it fuck.

This is the fairest assessment of the Unite the Kingdom rally. Sir Trevor Phillips went and saw normal, decent folk, a diverse crowd and hymns being sung. Those tarring it as “far-right” are projecting their own bigotry.

@Heccles94 So is the issue the cost of the pint or the minimum wage? Maybe if there wasn't so much the cost of the pint had to cover in the first place it wouldn't be so much. Government taxes cannot be subsidized with continual minimum wage increase.

I agree. But if you keep increasing wages beyond what market forces dictate you create an upward doom spiral known as inflation. The answer, based on simple supply and demand economics, is to increase the supply of the things we need like houses and/or decrease the demand for them.

“I’m a multimillionaire but if I pay you minimum wage my business will go bust” Why would you tell on yourself like this
Congolesa Rice tweet media
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@DennisRoxPod I wasnt looking to disagree, I was (in my experience) pointing out that sometimes debilitating excesses could not be excused away by a lost parent or child, or health scare, childhood abuse etc there wasnt, essentially, a pinpoint reason to explain the destructive behavior.

@jwap69 I'm just challenging your original push back regarding causality. Based on your elaborations you actually do agree that there is some kind of a cause underneath it all that is causing one to overdo something. Sometimes it's harder to pinpoint but it does exist nonetheless.

Mike says it bluntly in Episode 197 (Alcoholism): “Drinking is not the problem… the problem is the things that cause you to do it.” Listen to Episode 197 (Alcoholism) if you’re ready to stop negotiating with the thing that’s quietly draining the life out of you:
