@PeterDiamandis The most honest health data isn’t in a hospital. It’s in the bathroom. With TrueLoo, backed by NIH and TOTO, we’re finally listening to what’s been there all along.

@LondonBreed Why is the City getting into this business? You think you can do a better job than private industry? Anything the City manages is a joke.

Building housing Downtown is central to our effort to transform Downtown from a 9-5 neighborhood to a 24/7 one. In a significant milestone in that work, the first major concrete pour at Transbay Block 2 West happens this week, which will bring 335 new affordable rental housing units Downtown.  Our Office of Community Investment & Infrastructure (OCII) is creating a new mixed-income neighborhood for all San Franciscans in the heart of our City with support from @chinatowncdc (CCDC) and @mercyhousing. When complete, families and seniors who have experienced homelessness will enjoy the benefits of living Downtown with world-class amenities right at their doorstep, in walking distance to BART, Muni, and the Transbay Transit Center.

Hate has no place in San Francisco. I want to thank our DA @BrookeJenkinsSF and the @sfdaoffice for her commitment to protecting victims, charging hate crimes and continuing to hold offenders who harm our City accountable. We’re not going to tolerate violence or threats of any kind against anyone. We will continue to welcome any person regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation or gender.

@LondonBreed I was just violently attacked in my car on Mission and Main Street in downtown SF by a lunatic wielding a 3 foot pipe who severely damaged my Tesla. @elonmusk I am hoping to use the Tesla camera footage here.

@DanielLurie Why do you assume these actions will reduce the number of homeless on the streets? “Trust me”?

Our City is in the grip of a homelessness crisis that demands immediate action. We all know this. Yet for too long, we’ve accepted people living—and dying—on our streets. I entered the race for Mayor because City Hall insiders have made excuses or simply demonstrated that they can’t get results. As the founder and longtime CEO of Tipping Point Community, I know what works. In the past decade, Tipping Point has helped house over 38,000 people who were experiencing homelessness. We also built an affordable housing development at 833 Bryant Street, on time, under budget, with good paying union labor. And we helped get a tiny home village built at 33 Gough Street, bringing people inside and off the streets for far less than the City currently spends. Today, I’m announcing my “Home Run” plan to end unsheltered homelessness in SF. Just like we did at Tipping Point, I will bring urgency and accountability to City Hall. In addition to shutting down open-air drug markets and getting people into immediate treatment, we will address our shelter crisis. As mayor, I will: ➡️Build 1,500 Emergency Shelter Beds in 6 months, allowing us to clear encampments and offer a path to services. ➡️Increase support for Homeward Bound, which connects those living on the street with loved ones outside of SF. ➡️In total, I will create 2,500 units of shelter, including modular Bridge Housing, instead of focusing resources on expensive permanent housing. The City Hall insiders, who squandered opportunity after opportunity, are now talking tough about cleaning up the streets. They have already proven themselves incapable. Under my Home Run plan, we will end the narrative that San Francisco is the place you can come to live on the streets. With shelter in place, everyone will be afforded dignity, along with safe and clean neighborhoods. Read more here: daniellurie.com/wp-content/upl…

If we elect Aaron Peskin mayor, literally all the startups will leave San Francisco, and we will kill the golden goose of prosperity (It will also set back American tech supremacy in the middle of the AI boom) We can’t allow it. Anyone but Aaron 2024

@LondonBreed @AaronPeskin just now a group of motorcyclists took over the onramp to the I-80 at Bryant and Sterling Streets in SF. When I called the police, no one even picked up for 6 minutes. By then, all the thugs had dispersed.

@GrowSF Completely agree, AND we need to do much more to restore law and order. The key is to invest in surveillance and develop smaller, neighborhood police stations.

A fully funded police department means nothing if we can't hire and retain great officers. THAT's what Supervisor Dorsey is trying to do. It's shameful that Safaí and Walton are playing politics with public safety and fighting against hiring great people. sfstandard.com/2023/10/31/dor…

@DavidSacks Fighting proxy wars that purport to serve US interests have brought nothing but folly every time. Yet this “middling” path is one beset by the highest risk. It seems that history has been lost on the current administration.

HOW EMPIRES PERISH “At the opening of the twentieth century there were five great Western empires—the British, French, Russian, German, and Austro-Hungarian—and two emerging great powers: Japan and the United States. By century’s end, all the empires had disappeared. How did they perish? By war—all of them. … “America survives as the sole superpower because it stayed out of the slaughter pens until the other great powers had fought themselves near to death and avoided a cataclysmic clash with a nuclear-armed Soviet Russia. … “Yet, today, America’s leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers to ruin—from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new “crusades,” to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.” — Patrick J. Buchanan, “A Republic, Not an Empire” (1999)

We’re able to resume outreach and help connect people to shelter who are otherwise voluntarily homeless. On Thursday, City outreach teams placed 14 people into housing. We want to see more people getting the support they need and we’re committed to doing this work every day.
San Francisco Department of Emergency Management@SF_emergency

On Thursday the City’s Healthy Streets Operation Center (HSOC) engaged with individuals living in tents on Willow Street between Van Ness and Polk. 12 people were placed in shelters and 2 were placed directly into permanent housing, including a 70+ year old veteran. 1/4

If we want to continue to see officers on our streets, investigating crimes, and responding to calls for service, we have to fund more overtime. This is about the safety of our neighborhoods and it’s about our economy: londonbreed.medium.com/our-commitment…

Yes! We must REFUND the Police. It’s the key to a safe and clean San Francisco every day. SFPD must be returned to >2000 officers within 18 months from 1400 where it has been allowed to fall, and the police force must be fully empowered to enforce ALL laws. Compensate ALL city employees to recruit the best officers in the country. San Francisco Police Academy must be expanded for hiring surge. All laws must be fully enforced. Police must be fully funded. The DA's office must prosecute to the fullest level of the law. Return Safety to retail business and residential properties NOW. DISTRICT BY DISTRICT - Police officers need to be enabled to protect assigned districts and rewarded & measured for their effectiveness. Metrics for effectiveness need to be clearly defined and transparent. Let’s institute a Neighborhood Policing model in San Francisco, safety District by District. Thank you @mattdorsey for support our SFPD!
Matt Dorsey@mattdorsey

Today I’m introducing a Charter Amendment that aims to fix a police staffing crisis that is literally without precedent in our City’s modern history — and to finally deliver on the promise of a fully staffed police force that San Franciscans deserve. 1/7 sfchronicle.com/sf/article/s-f…

Founder is selling a company for $125M+: mini-win for us, life-altering for him. Another investor (gets 3X+ back) has *blocking rights*; he's extorting the founder for more for $$'s to him! Do I threaten to publicly excoriate the bully investor? Is my instinct too aggressive?

Unaccountable, corrupt, and massive conflicts of interest. When public servants have an opportunity to earn this kind of money in “overtime”, you can guarantee there is NO motivation for change from the inside. SF needs mass layoffs and a reset. sfchronicle.com/sf/article/cit…
