The Deputy Chief of the 🇨🇾 Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Neophytos Pachoulides, visited the United States on March 2-3, during which he held meetings at the @DeptofWar, focusing on 🇨🇾–🇺🇸 defense cooperation, including in the context of the security environment of the East Med. The visit reaffirmed the importance of the strategic partnership between Cyprus and the United States.

Excellent cooperation in 🇨🇾 with @NationalGuardCY, Military Police & @Cyprus_Police that enhanced interoperability, readiness & coordination in complex environments. Προχωράμε μαζί! @StateDept

A very successful visit by @chod_cy Lt Gen Tsitsikostas with high-level Pentagon meetings (@thejointstaff Vice Chairman Admiral Grady, @USNationalGuard Chief General Nordhaus & @DefenseDsca Director Mike Miller) demonstrating the continuous upgrading of 🇨🇾-🇺🇸 defense relations

From Betts' "Should Strategic Studies Survive?". Published in 1997, still prescient.

As someone working in defence and involved with armoured vehicle modernisation, I keep a model of a Sherman tank on my desk. It was not the best tank of WW2. It reminds me that the genius of its design was that it could be mass-produced easily, quickly, and at low cost. In contrast, the German Tiger was a technical meisterstück that was difficult, expensive, and time-consuming to manufacture. As a result, only 1,347 Tigers were made. As good as these were, they had no answer to the 49,234 Shermans that rolled-off US production lines. We forget the importance of the simplifying the industrialisation of our military capabilities at our peril.

@AlexAlmeida2020 Extremely depressing how badly US policymakers have failed in Yemen constantly, basically handed the houthis Hudaydah and facilitated much greater iranian supply
