In 2013, the fairness for high skilled Immigrants act was introduced in parallel with CIR. Why can't it be done now? @RepZoeLofgren plz introduced the Durbin-Lee agreement. If #USCAct2021 passes, then all is well and good. If not, we march ahead with our bill. #RemoveCountryCaps

Your home is where your life is. Your job. Your spouse. Your child's school. Your mortgage. Your decade of tax returns. India is where you were born. America is where you live. These people flew to India for two weeks — a parent's funeral, a wedding, a medical emergency. They had valid H-1B visas and confirmed appointments. Then the State Department cancelled thousands of interviews overnight. No new regular slots in 100+ days. Rescheduled into 2027. Their kids are in American schools. Their rent is due. Their managers are asking when they're coming back. And the answer is: nobody knows. When the government traps you 8,000 miles from your family and livelihood with no timeline and no recourse , yes, you are stranded. The country you're standing in doesn't change that.
Sólionath@Anarseldain

@Cloudwatch199 I’ve never been “stranded” in my own home. How exactly does that work?

100+ days. That's how long it's been since a single regular H-1B appointment slot was released in India. All 5 consulates — ZERO availability. Earliest dates pushed to 2027. Thousands stranded. Families torn apart. Careers destroyed. They followed every rule. Filed every form. Paid every fee. And the system is punishing them for visiting their parents. @StateDept @USCIS , Stop using Indian immigrants as your tool for political propoganda. @IAACouncil @RajeevSharma00 @HashemMelech048 @SloanRachmuth @Yael4Hanover

@kiabms5 @learning_pt I would expect them not to make massive financial commitments in a country they only have temporary working status in

Mass-reporting brigades may be manipulating X moderation. A new article shows organized groups coordinating report campaigns through Telegram channels like “Indian Cyber Defender” (2,300+ members). How it works: 1.Target account posted 2.Members mass-report the account 3.Report volume spikes 4.X’s automated moderation flags it 5.Account gets suspended or demonetized Several accounts discussing H-1B visa abuse say they were recently hit this way. If true, the moderation system itself is being weaponized.

and the $8.5 million goes into treasury, and not to USCIS and since USCIS is mostly fees funded, this means this will impact operations, which includes fiance/spousal visa adjudications
Connor O’Brien@cojobrien

85 people have paid the $100,000 H-1B fee so far, totaling $8.5 million in revenue. But fee revenue from H-1B apps abroad is down $28 million. So the fee — justified by a paper claiming the revenue-maximizing fee was >$100,000! — appears to have lost the government $20 million.

@hellonehha There is nothing wrong with negotiation. The problem is doing it after agreeing and confirming the joining date. Negotiation should happen before the commitment, not after it. It’s like saying that after getting engaged, your fiancé is still going out on dates

Interviewed a backend developer. Guy was at 21 LPA. We offered 28 LPA, roughly a 33 percent hike. He agreed and confirmed joining. Yesterday he emailed saying he got a 32 LPA offer elsewhere and now wants 36 LPA from us. Nonsense. Why agree in the first place. If you are still shopping offers just say it upfront. We stopped interviewing other candidates and waited through the notice period for the joining date. Now two days before joining, he came back with a new price tag.

This immigrant is ruining many Americans' lives by harassing them for no reason. @USCIS should take a bit and investigate her K1 visa.

@kiabms5 @USCIS You have zero knowledge of the most seminal moments or people in US history and are lecturing me on what America is. Have you ever heard of George Washington or Ronald Reagan at least?
