@AllKindsWeather This is an NIL thing. Either that ramps up and we're a top 10 baseball program... or it doesn't and we hang on with sully until it falls apart and go into the abyss
English

@nwblackmon @mikefreemanNFL How can these guys lay off pitches that close?!
English

@LionBlogosphere @SPFCCMT Yes. Great advice. I'd push road construction like my dad, first generation college. There's 'knowing' and there's KNOWING 😀
English

This guy's parents were upperclass. Working for money during high school is low class. Upperclass kids do unpaid internships that their parents obtain for them with their network of contacts. Or do some summer enrichment learning or play sports if they can't get an internship.
Lycurgus@GC_Strategos
My parents never encouraged me to work in high school. I remember talking to my dad about summer jobs and he said, “Why would you want to do that? You will have the rest of your life to work.”
English

@poiThePoi @LionBlogosphere Makes sense. Especially when those college classes don't exactly ever go down in cost
English

@kkrieger12 @LionBlogosphere Two years at the in-dorm cafe and then I ran out of non-major classes and went "So uh, it is time to really lock in" and quit all my jobs.
English

@poiThePoi @LionBlogosphere And the money... well... yes. School. And beer. But more school.
English

@poiThePoi @LionBlogosphere Oh my, yes! I had buddies work at golf courses.. that is genuinely a GRIND. I did yard shrubs in the florida summer and slung Chinese food at a fast food joint with no Chinese employees 😀
English

@poiThePoi @LionBlogosphere I respect your situation and experience! I was admittedly blessed that I could be 'nudged' into shifty work in what was, retrospectively, a pointed learning exercise.
English

@kkrieger12 @LionBlogosphere No, but if they're not rich enough to pay full freight, there will be discussions and I ended up with about $30K and Mom ended up with about $25K.
English

@poiThePoi @LionBlogosphere That's obtuse though. The parents in that situation aren't going to garnish the wages for college expenses.
English

@LionBlogosphere If you're going to college, FAFSA means you have a 90% tax rate. No job is worth a buck fifty an hour.
If you're _not_ going to college, $15 is $13 after FICA.

@77SeeJay7 @Jake_W DeSantis was pretty incredible. But Kemp was indeed the cream of the crop.
English

@Jake_W I always hated that Abbott and DeSantis got props for their handling of COVID while Kemp hasn’t. He was much better than both, but especially Abbott.
English

It wasn't apparent at the time, and wouldn't be for a while, but this was the day Brian Kemp locked up reelection in exchange for a brief stint as one of the nation's least popular governors. He is now consistently one of the nation's most popular.

@AnaBeck95444 @NC_Renic Thank God I've always been a serial ellipses abuser instead.
English

@MuseZack I used that characterization when they tried to take office printers away. And I've still got mine (from my cold dead hands.... oops.... I did it again (Britney!)).
English

@JustR_02 'Conservatives believe'....invincible....
No they don't. They sweat about this. Almost goes hand-in-hand with 'conservative.'
There are two people that have any relevant beliefs here. And they are wise enough to know the chatter and... maybe... too stubborn to act upon it.
English

There is this thought among some conservatives that Sam Alito and Clarence Thomas are “young”… by SCOTUS standards I guess they are.
Yes, Justices Thomas (77) and Alito (76) are both a decade younger than RBG was when she died, but both are also not far off from RBG’s age when Obama basically begged her to retire so her seat wouldn’t flip. We know how that ended for her.
Mike Fragoso@mike_frags
As predicted, the best way to keep Alito from retiring is news cycles about how he should retire. Whether good or bad, it simply is. Gotta hold the Senate! foxnews.com/politics/alito…

>Plot centers entirely around fighting extreme government taxation and overreach
>The Sheriff of Nottingham literally collects taxes from the church poor box
>Friar Tuck gets so fed up with the state disrespecting the Church that he physically throws hands with the Sheriff
>Casts the Crusades in a positive light
>Male protagonist who risks his life for his people
>Unapologetically traditional romance with Maid Marian without any modern subversion
>Climax is literally a raid to break political prisoners out of a corrupt jail
>Story resolves when the rightful, divinely-appointed monarch returns from the Holy Land to crush the corrupt politicians
>Ends with a beautiful church wedding and a happily ever after

@Xxtayce @trad_west_ Those are my 2 favorite (go figure, I'm 47), and have loved watching them with my 9 and 8 yo sons. So hard to find solid boy things sometimes. Or maybe I'm just nostalgic.
English

@trad_west_ This and Sword and the Stone were great stories for young boys. Disney doesn't do this nearly enough anymore.
English

@ClassicsCFB This was my first SEC home game as UF student. I believe it had all the classic hits. Thunderstorm delays, 5 hours or so. 8 million degree heat index. Whiskey permeating the student section. My blue- painted buddy passed out on the bleachers melting paint everywhere.
English

@TimBrando @espn The bases are loaded again.... and I wish I was too.
English

This is pure truth from Dale Murphy. I had the honor of being a part of the 80’s sports television revolution thru cable. 1st @espn from 85 thru 94, and then I caught a glimmer of what Turner Sports was about 94 thru 96’. Ernie Sr had retired from the TBS booth but was convinced to come back to work about 50 games not on TBS but #SportSouth his regionally owned cable station. By then Wednesday nights were not allowed on TBS, but were aired. Ernie, Skip and Pete became synonymous with baseball coverage in this country. TurnerSportsEJ was supposed to do those games but his schedule with the NBA and Goodwill Games (remember those?)was immense so I was asked to step in and I did. @MLB never had a team more universally known than those @BravesOnWTBS teams. Ted Turner was a sports entrepreneurial GIANT. The sports cable boom had become a major player in creating joy for fans across the country! It was in many ways cable sports Golden Age! 👇⚾️📺 x.com/BravesVisionTV…

@Corey_Clark Why would we wanna see someone make a 10 in the masters when we could watch teenagers drink for the 37th time in the last 5 hours?
English

@AllKindsWeather @GatorDiamondPod I can almost understand some of the ground balls. This stuff should be once per season....
English

I can’t with this defense. I literally fucking can’t. I’m not gonna say a word.
If you listen to @GatorDiamondPod, this isn’t even a surprise. 🤷🏻♂️
English

@DrPepper21MD Things like the huge shove that he gave to an iowa player that should have been a foul too... and the T with like 6 minutes left in the title game last year... along with that total no show Sunday. I dunno. Good guy, good player, just still hard to trust in the big moments, IMO
English

the fact that a DPOY finalist was unplayable against iowa still baffles me

@AirFlawdaJordan Lol, I'm at an age where I paid $50 for some dude on the internet to burn all 6 games from last year into DVDs. Just came in the mail. I'll watch this next couple weeks. It might be less stressful this time too.
