17 years ago today, we opened our first @sweetgreen restaurant in Georgetown, DC in a tiny 560 sq ft building off campus right after graduation. The idea was simple, but big: to redefine fast food. We served a few hundred customers and played Robot Rock by Daft Punk as our first song. Today we operate over 230 restaurants in over 20 states, and serve millions of customers. Thank you to our devoted customers, farmers, partner suppliers and dedicated team members - past and present- for being a crucial part of this journey and helping us advance the Sweetgreen mission of connecting people to real food! On my way home from DC tonight, I decided to pay Stumpy my final respects and give it a bit of Canon glitz with the lights. Sorry to see it go to the arboretum, but it's for the good of the trees coming and the repairs are so needed with tidal flooding have wiping out so many trees. @peter_king Can you ask Mr. Shaffar where he gets his crime numbers? DC is NOT the crime capital of the US- it doesn't even crack the top 20 in violent crime rates (my source, the FBI's Crime Data Explorer). It is a city so of course there's crime but lets not be so dramatic.

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.
