🧵Day 1/30: Zack Polanski's green dreams? Germany's 'Energiewende' jacked bills 50%—hitting poor families hardest. UK's 6.5M in fuel poverty say no thanks. Is this 'just transition'? #GreenFail #UnravelGreens

Kyiv ranked third in Europe for Bentley sales, - regional Director of the company, Richard Leopold. The average price of a Bentley starts at $400.000. After Europe gives Zelenskyy another 90 billion, there's every chance of taking first place.

@ZackPolanski What on earth are you talking about? It’s Islamist terrorists that carried out the attack (as announced). You bring Islamophobia in as it’s it’s something. For Gods sake man, why are you and others so delusional

And this is an exact reminder of why we must stand against both Antisemitism and Islamophobia. The cynical forces who seek to divide our communities must never win. We will stand together.

@SteveReedMP Eh Steve, how are you going to slip in a reference to ‘far right’ here? If it was a mosque or Muslim impacted community,’you would be slathering at the opportunity. Now call it what it is

I visited this wonderful charity just a few years ago in happier times, and I’m heartbroken this attack has happened. This is a racist crime and we will not tolerate it. Not as a government or a country. We all stand firmly with the Jewish community. I’m grateful to the emergency services and we're working closely with the Met to ensure everyone stays safe.

Horrifying to hear of another antisemitic attack on ambulances in Golders Green last night We are being dangerously divided against one another like no time I can remember. Saturday there’ll be a huge march against hate, for the country we need where we stand TOGETHER #r4today

@ArchRose90 Will wait for the comment from him about increasing security and funding. The symptoms need addressing. There’s gangrene setting in this country, if not treated now, it’s either the loss of limb or death.

Starmer and Labour MPs have spent all week condemning imaginary “Islamophobia” because the Trafalgar Square Iftar was criticised. Only to condemn a real antisemitic attack days later. This sums up a reoccurring pattern in Britain. Starmer will do nothing significant again.
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

This is a deeply shocking antisemitic arson attack.  My thoughts are with the Jewish community who are waking up this morning to this horrific news.  Antisemitism has no place in our society.  Anyone with any information must come forward to the police.

@arusbridger Interesting, and I can see some semblance of a connection. However, it should be noted that during the Gorton and Denton campaign, GBNews not once gave any coverage to the Reform candidate. Interesting

On the first day, God created the dog and said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?" And God saw it was good. On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span." The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?" And God, again saw it was good. On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years." The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?" And God agreed it was good. On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years." But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?" "Okay," said God, "You asked for it." So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. Life has now been explained 😁 Source : unknown

This scene in Miami Vice where "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins plays stands as one of TV's all time greatest cinematic sequences. It effortlessly establishes the mood and highlights just how far today's television industry has fallen. This authentic soul is gone.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧 In 1839 the farmers of West Wales were being crushed alive. So they put on dresses. And declared war. Their name was Rebecca. 🪓 West Wales. 1839. Rent to the landlord. Tithes to the English Church. And on every road, a tollgate. You couldn't move without paying. On the night of 13 May 1839 a crowd appeared at the Efailwen tollgate in Pembrokeshire. Every single one of them was dressed as a woman. Long skirts. Bonnets. Shawls. Work boots visible beneath the hems. Their leader stood at the front. They called her Rebecca. The name came from the Bible. Genesis 24:60. "Let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them." They destroyed the gate. The trust rebuilt it. Rebecca came back. They destroyed it again. The trust rebuilt it a second time. Rebecca destroyed it a third time. The trust gave up. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 By 1843 the raids had spread across all of west Wales. Two hundred and fifty tollhouses destroyed. Two thousand people marched on the Carmarthen workhouse and tried to burn it down. Nobody knew who Rebecca was. That was the point. Everyone was Rebecca. One person died. Sarah Williams. Seventy-five years old. The keeper of the Hendy tollgate, Carmarthenshire. On the night of September 9th 1843 Rebecca came for her gate. She was ordered to leave. She refused. They set fire to the tollhouse. She walked to her neighbour's door. She said: "Dear, dear." And fell down dead. Those who were caught were transported to Tasmania. Never to return. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 In 1844, Parliament passed the South Wales Turnpike Trusts Act. The hated toll on lime was halved. The trusts were brought to heel. Two hundred and fifty gates destroyed. One act of Parliament. The farmers won. Nobody knows who Rebecca was. Nobody was ever identified as the leader. Everyone was Rebecca. Did they teach you their story? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧 Nobody keeps these stories alive. Unless we all do. 👉 proudofus.co.uk/support Be Part Of Us. Be Proud Of Us. 🇬🇧

Long Before Rotherham, Birmingham Already Knew. In 1991 Birmingham City Council buried research documenting how girls in its care were being sexually abused by organised networks. In 1995 it voted down the enquiry that might have exposed what it had done. Thirty years later girls were still trying to tell us what that report had already documented and been ordered to erase. Birmingham City Council destroyed evidence of child rape in 1991. It's MPs are now trying to prevent this from being investigated. It is nine minutes past nine and we have arrived late. Perhaps, too late... youtube.com/live/H665e14Hb… _________ I’m Raja Miah MBE. For seven years, I led a campaign that exposed how senior Labour politicians helped protect Pakistani rape gangs. @EHOinExile @DVATW @CadburyUK Yeah, if you note what I comment on it’s the marketing, i.e the pallet branding. I was quite specific (or so I thought), that is the part most people have looked at (not the eggs), I couldn’t see the top of the Easter Egg boxes to comment from that picture. Hence website

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 1829. Five machines. One mile of track. The world was never the same. 🚂 In October 1829 the Liverpool and Manchester Railway held a competition. The world's first inter-city passenger railway was nearly built. Nobody knew what should pull the trains. The directors wanted stationary engines fixed to the ground. Hauling carriages with cables. George Stephenson disagreed. The directors said: prove it. A £500 prize. One mile of level track. Rainhill, Lancashire. Ten entered. Five showed up. One was powered by a horse. 🐴 The crowd favourite was the Novelty. Small, elegant, built in London. Never tested on a real railway before the day. Then there was Sans Pareil. Heavy, dark, powerful. Built in Shildon, County Durham. And the Rocket. Built in Newcastle by Robert Stephenson. George's 26-year-old son. Quietly confident. The Novelty went first. The crowd erupted. Then its boiler joints failed. Then failed again. Sans Pareil ran powerfully. Then its cylinder cracked. The Rocket kept running. Day after day. Run after run. Hauling thirteen tons. Then on the morning of the 8th of October they uncoupled the load. And the Rocket ran free. Thirty-two miles an hour. 🚂 The crowd had never seen anything move that fast. The Rocket was the only locomotive to complete the trials. £500 prize. And the contract to build every locomotive for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. One year later the railway opened. A Member of Parliament stepped onto the track. William Huskisson, the railway's most passionate supporter, became the world's first railway fatality. The railway opened anyway. History doesn't pause. The Rocket became the template for every steam locomotive built for 150 years. Within twenty years Britain had six thousand miles of railway. It started in a field in Lancashire. With one family from Newcastle who believed a locomotive could win. Did you know this story? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 Nobody thought a locomotive could do it. One family from Newcastle proved them wrong. I’ve put my own money into Reform, mate—hard-earned cash from a regular job. I’m just an ordinary, decent, law-abiding, hard-working, tax-paying British citizen. I’m absolutely fed up—sick to death—of people like you who seem determined to tear apart the country I love, the country that’s mine by birthright and lifelong loyalty. There are thousands more just like me, quietly but willingly funding Reform because we’ve had enough. Hope that clears things up for you
