I am an American nurse. I worked the ER through COVID.
I am going to tell you what I saw. Not what the news said. Not what the agencies said. What I saw with my own eyes, in the hospitals where I worked.
The story you were told and the story we lived were two different stories.
The hospitals were empty.
Empty triage. Empty units. Whole floors closed. Nurses sent home with reduced hours. The inappropriate TikTok videos of nurses dancing in PPE came out of those weeks because there was nothing else to do.
The exception were the urban centers — New York, parts of LA etc— where people live stacked and respiratory illness moves fast.
The rest of the country was a ghost town being filmed as a war zone.

@nettermike @LindaNDanny That’s called a wrist rocket and he could have killed the attacker. When I was a kid I would shoot steely marbles with it. It would put a deep dent in a heavy duty stop sign.😳😬 🤣😹😂

He was in his room playing video games in Alpena Township, Michigan when he heard his 8-year-old sister scream outside. The first time, he figured she was just messing around with friends. The second scream made him look out the window.
Owen Burns is 13 years old. His dad Andrew had taken him to the range, practiced with him on his BB gun, and worked with him on his aim over the years. The slingshot was something they had picked up just to play with. Owen was not supposed to use it inside the house because he had a habit of breaking things with it. None of that crossed his mind on May 10th.
What he saw through the window was a 17-year-old boy who had come out of the woods and grabbed his sister, covering her mouth, pulling her toward the trees. Owen grabbed the slingshot, loaded a marble, and fired from the window. He hit the attacker in the head. Then he loaded a gravel rock and fired again. He hit him in the chest. His sister broke free and ran. The attacker fled into the neighborhood, where police later found him hiding at a nearby gas station, still carrying the injuries from the slingshot.
Michigan State Police said those exact wounds helped them identify and build the case against the suspect. The 17-year-old was charged with attempted kidnapping, attempted assault with intent to do great bodily harm, and assault and battery. Police said what Owen did was extraordinary and that he should be commended. His mom Margaret said she was just glad he picked it up when he did.
When a reporter asked Owen how he managed to hit the target twice under that kind of pressure, he kept it short. He said the guy was just a big target. Not like one Pepsi can.
What do you think made Owen act instead of freeze in a moment that most adults would not be ready for?

Got yelled at by a stranger for leaving my table like this, and now I’m wondering… is it actually my responsibility to clean up at a fast food place? Honest question—when you go somewhere like McDonald’s or KFC, do you clear your own tray? We finished eating and left the table messy (we literally just ate there), and some random guy started going off on us for not throwing everything away. We defended ourselves—because we’re paying customers, not employees—and somehow the staff ended up kicking us out over the situation. I genuinely don’t get it. I’m paying for the service, so why am I the bad guy for expecting staff to clear tables and clean up? Isn’t that part of their job? Make it make sense.

My husband and I are both J6ers. For four years, we endured hell starting with an early morning raid, arrests, pretrial supervision, dozens of court hearings, house arrest, and prison time. We lost the business we built from the ground up. Our families suffered right alongside us.
We’re far from alone. 1,600 of us had our lives completely upended by the January 6 prosecutions. I speak for many when I say we want restitution for the homes, businesses, savings, and years stolen.

10 years in, I don’t understand why people still freak out over President Trump’s social media posts.
It’s not that deep. The self-righteous outcry is actually nauseating.
Everyone is welcome to their opinion, but it feels more consequential to criticize someone’s actions, rather than the memes that they post. Personally, I couldn’t care less.
The faux outrage actually gives me heartburn.

BREAKING: Pam Bondi has been fired as attorney general, according to Fox News.
EPA Director Lee Zeldin is reportedly under consideration to replace her.
According to Fox, President Trump met in the Oval Office with Bondi before his speech last night.
"One of those sources said that by the time Trump took his place behind the podium for the address, Bondi had already lost her job and was on her way back to Florida," Fox News reported.

To the neighbor mowing at 6 P.M.—yes, SIX IN THE EVENING—I already called the cops and filed a noise complaint. What happened to basic courtesy? What happened to being even slightly aware that other people exist around you? Some of us work all week and look forward to one quiet evening to finally sit down, eat dinner in peace, and maybe relax without machinery roaring through the walls. But apparently 6 P.M. is the perfect time to fire up a lawn mower and treat the neighborhood like it's a landscaping competition. The noise echoes, the engine revs, and grass flies everywhere, as if it couldn't possibly wait. It's not the middle of the afternoon; it's not some emergency yard situation; it's dinner time, unwind time, and common sense time. Being a neighbor isn't just about maintaining your lawn—it's about having basic consideration for the people living ten feet away from you. And that consideration was clearly nowhere to be found.
