Today another serious incident took place in Mongkot Chepu Kuki village where school students were appearing for their examinations. NSCN-IM along with Tangkhul volunteers and their relatives deliberately disrupted the exam and directly opened fire toward Kuki children who were writing their exams. This is completely unacceptable and inhuman. One Kuki civilian has already spoken about this incident, and the video evidence clearly shows that NSCN-IM along with Tangkhul volunteers and their associates were firing toward Kuki civilians. Such actions against innocent children and unarmed civilians cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. This is a direct attack on innocent lives and the future of children. The continued targeting of civilians shows a complete disregard for humanity and law. We urgently call upon the NIA and central forces to take immediate action and arrest all NSCN-IM and Tangkhul militants involved in this unacceptable and violent act. The Kuki Community strongly condemns the deliberate spread of fake news by certain Tangkhul social media users who are continuously posting false information to mislead the public and distort the ground reality. Such actions are highly irresponsible and dangerous, as they escalate tension and create unnecessary fear. We urgently appeal to the higher authorities to take strict and immediate legal action against those spreading misinformation and hold them accountable. The Kuki Community firmly clarifies that the claims being circulated are false. In reality, innocent Kuki civilians were peacefully working in their fields and school students were attending classes when NSCN-IM, along with Tangkhul volunteers and their associates, opened fire toward unarmed civilians, including children. This act is inhuman, unacceptable, and a direct attack on innocent lives. Furthermore, there are serious concerns regarding helicopter movements. While it is being claimed that helicopters are transporting food, rice, and medicine, the Kuki Community strongly suspects that these are being used to supply weapons, ammunition, RPGs, and other sophisticated explosives. The Kuki Community strongly rejects the false narrative that only Kuki people are involved in poppy cultivation. Such accusations are misleading and appear to be deliberately used to target and defame the Kuki Community, while ignoring the reality that poppy cultivation is also taking place in other areas, including parts of Ukhrul district. This selective blaming is unjust and unacceptable. The Kuki Community has also witnessed that huts used for genuine farming activities such as cabbage, papaya, and pumpkin cultivation are being deliberately burned and falsely labeled as poppy fields. This kind of misrepresentation is deeply concerning and only adds to the ongoing tension. The Kuki Community stands for peace and lawful livelihood, but such actions create fear and insecurity among innocent villagers.
