@CanadaGoose911 Wonder if there’s a study showing union pressure -> strike -> lost $ -> gained $ = better $ over the long run? Like, if there was no union pressure since the 50s, would most of us be earning less? People nearing retirement complain sometimes, but maybe they’re still better off?

So they lost 8 weeks of pay to get 1% more of a raise. Employers know the math if they goad us into striking for a couple months we pay for our own raise. It’s a shell game. Cost of living adjustments should be automatic this game we are playing with unions is ridiculous.

I would like to thank @CityofVancouver for giving my parents a $125 fine for forgetting (dad thought he did it) to submit paperwork for the empty home tax. And if they don’t pay by March 5th it goes up like a parking ticket. Just… so dumb… @KenSimCity @CityNewsVAN @VancouverSun

I'm coming around to the idea that renting is a better financial decision than buying. Exceptions being if you plan to actually stay in a home for 15+ years or you're buying ultra high end

@paranoiacs It’s a long story, but I once walked past Roger Daltrey holding a guitar. I couldn’t resist & strummed the first chord of PW. He gave me a dirty look & I promised with a smile that he didn’t have to sing… Obnoxious of me in hindsight, but a surreal moment for a very big fan.

The most endearing thing about "Pinball Wizard" is that it's written and sung from the point of view of the previous pinball champion, who is genuinely incredulous that he has been usurped by someone deaf, dumb and blind. If we didn't have Pete Townshend, we'd have to invent him.

@dockevinmcleod My wife had severe abd & back pains for 3 days in 2019, no GP, so never tested for anything over the years & massive wait times at all the ERs, so she just kind of slept it off, “I’m fine”. 2 yrs later, tumours all over, appendix cancer. She passed away last April…

You know what makes me angry? When I admit a patient with metastatic cancer who’s unlikely to survive… and if that patient had been able to access a family doctor and simple routine screening tests they would have been most likely cured months ago. Now it’s too late. This happens far too often. Not being able to access care sooner is absolutely killing people. It happens over and over again. It’s pretty pathetic for the billions of dollars we spend on healthcare.
