I'm from the Midwest, so am very used to folks coming by to borrow sugar.
This is the first time I've ever lent out a Starlink.
Extremely cool what @thecorgicompany is doing in Jamaica, helping folks file for insurance claims.

🧵Tunnel mapping project by @honestreporting shows how Hamas militarized the Hamad luxury apartment complex by snaking tunnels under the civilian residences, using the area for combat and holding hostages. Here is the tunnel route and the neighborhood before 10/7. See detail: 1/

Hi X 🤟 thanks for all the love 💛
On October 7 I was shot in my hand and leg, last week I finally had surgery to help the pain.
I embrace my hand, my leg and my scars - to me they represent freedom, hope and strength.
I thank G-d, the IDF, and everyone who fought to give me my life back. Now let's bring all the hostages home 🎗️

Sagui is home! American Sagui Dekel Chen and two more hostages were released by Hamas in Gaza thanks to @POTUS' strength and leadership. STAY STRONG EDAN - we will have you home soon!

@AviSchiffmann It makes you realize how mundane some ideas sound if they are not told by someone aspiring to make them a reality.

@VerminusM @RitchieTorres He no longer needs to pretend their policies were flawless.

@RitchieTorres If he understands this then why did he do it?

A hard truth from Secretary of State Anthony Blinken: “Whenever there has been public daylight between the US and Israel and the perception that pressure was growing on Israel, Hamas has pulled back from agreeing to a ceasefire and the release of the hostages.”
Those who have created daylight between the US and Israel and those who have exerted one-sided pressure on Israel have made Hamas feel emboldened to perpetuate the war. The useful idiocy of playing into the hands of Hamas has never been and will never be a prescription for peace.

@RaviBhalla A Palestinian flag should be welcome only when its ruling parties stop taking baby hostages and funding terrorists. Otherwise, it signals that such behavior is acceptable in Hoboken.

Emails I received in my inbox regarding a recent flag raising included phrases such as “deeply offensive,” a “slap in the face,” “an insult,” and asking “how can you do this?”
The above sentiments were the reactions to the City’s decision this past June to raise the flag of Israel for Israel Independence Day, as requested by a group of residents to celebrate and recognize the contributions of Israelis to our community here in Hoboken. In that case, the flag raising was mischaracterized by some as supporting the policies of the State of Israel.
Back then, I took lengths to explain that raising the Israeli flag is an expression of our support of the Israeli community in Hoboken and beyond, at a time of deep hurt and suffering among our Israeli community in Hoboken. Now the exact – sometimes to the word – expressions have entered my email inbox in reaction to the raising of the Palestinian flag.
Over the past days, I have received emails stating that this flag raising means that the city supports terrorism and antisemitism. Similar to earlier this year, I am taking lengths to explain that raising the Palestinian flag is an expression of our support of the Palestinian community in Hoboken and beyond, at a time when they are also hurt and suffering.
In the wake of the tragic events of October 7, 2023, I was asked not to raise the Israeli flag, just as I am being asked not to raise the Palestinian flag. I refused then, and am refusing now, because doing so would be discriminatory, and I refuse to discriminate against any community in Hoboken.
The raising of the Palestinian flag is in response to direct requests we have received from Hoboken residents of Palestinian descent. In accepting this request – as we do for similar requests - we are expressing our appreciation for a community of people – their culture, their identity, and heritage. I will not deny the existence of any community in Hoboken who seeks to be recognized. This is part of the diversity that makes Hoboken special.
I was also asked why, when there are few Palestinians in Hoboken, that we should raise the flag. I feel that this makes it even more critical that we do not silence or deny the existence of a small minority of residents and their request for a flag raising. Recognizing their existence is all the more important for our community as a whole.
The last thing we want to do is disrespect any community in Hoboken. I have been there for the Israeli community. This unchanged sentiment can co-exist with the sentiment that we support and celebrate the Palestinian community members here in Hoboken. In this regard, equality will be our hallmark here in this city.
In Hoboken, we host flag raisings for many communities that want their voices to be heard, and their identity recognized. This includes flag raisings like the Pride Flag, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Italy, India, Ukraine, and more. We treat all people equally and want to recognize the cultural heritage and existence of the Palestinian people as well, especially at a time of suffering.
I hope you understand that I have to – and want to – apply these principles equally across the board. I cannot and will not discriminate against any community. I am proud to be mayor of a city that is welcoming of Palestinians and their allies.
Thank you for reading.
