@FACTMATTER2024 @GavinNewsom 1. America already had tariffs 2. The American people pay the cost of the tariffs because it’s an import tax. The tariff is paid by the person bringing the goods into the country (e.g American business) and they pass the charge on via higher prices.

SO LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHT... 195 Countries CAN Tarrif American taxpayers & Companies. Trump brings in 500 Billion in 2 months for Americans. With most likely 1 Trillion by years end to lower the Deficit people like @GavinNewsom caused. (California in a 42 Billion deficit) But America CAN'T TARRIF those 195 Countries & their Businesses ❓️ And @TheDemocrats are LEADING the charge supporting 195 countries, Taking Trump to court to STOP AMERICA'S TARRIFS and have Americans pay Countries Businesses taxes.

@600in20 @kierenthe2nd @TheGriftReport DEI doesn’t rule the country lol How many quotas can either of us even name? DEI isn’t law either, nobody is legally required to hit any of these “quotas” If you’re going to blame DEI for the existence of female politians with £159k salaries, Thatcher would like a word

@manofgrump @kierenthe2nd @TheGriftReport Yeah I'd agree, but at least we had the ideals/values to try and achieve meritocracy as much as we can. I can't say that's the case anymore with DEI initiatives and quotas to fill. Either way simply saying work harder is just a strawman if meritocracy doesn't exist

@Sgathach_1 She’s spent 10 years working as an MP. Their current salary is £91k a year. As a cabinet minister she also gets a topup of £67k a year. Finally, there’s no evidence for the £4.7m number. It probably assumes that she owns her houses outright with no mortgage & other assumptions

@TheGriftReport I back this post 100%, it doesn’t take a genius to question it… remember the UK tax system isn’t designed to make you win… so where did this little windfall come from… Is it misogyny when I say it.. I got a pair of … tits

@doublebelle She earns £91k a year as an MP and an extra £67k a year as a cabinet minister. While you spend your days sitting behind your keyboard and screen retweeting rather than working.

@TheGriftReport It’s the reason why doctors quit their job to become MPs for a seemingly lesser paying job. Being an MP bring opportunities from foreign entities and doing favours for people - for money.

@kierenthe2nd @600in20 @TheGriftReport Aye, exactly. Meritocracy hasn’t scrapped, we just never had it in the first place 😂. Cleaners and social workers have never been rich. And the previous government and corporations keep trying to do what they can to destroy or diminish the collective bargaining power of unions.

Wages in sectors such as care are and always have been decided by the job market by wrongly characterising it as low skilled work. Literally how it’s always been decided. There hasn’t been a “fall” in anything of the sort. Care workers should be paid more, however. Not sure the meritocracy/equity argument applies here.

@TheGriftReport MPs have a salary of £91k per annum plus allowable expenses. Ministers have a salary topup of up to £67k, so she realistically currently earns over £150k now, after 9 years of an MP salary. And mortgages exist. It’s easy to forget that politicians are richer than most of us.

LONDON HAS FALLEN !!! On the Circle Line Tube just now when a pregnant lady gets on. A large BLACK man IMMEDIATELY gets up in a THREATENING manner and in an INTIMIDATING voice suggests to the lady that she take his seat. THIS CAN'T GO ON !!! WE ARE LOST !!!

@Artemisfornow Great! He can start by firing himself, so saving taxpayers his huge salary, and further, saving the cost of an entire department that will probably end up spending more than it saves!

@ProfBrianCox It’ll be interesting to see this week’s juggling, given the scale of annual govt income at >£1T. Sometimes we lose this context. It’d be strange to spend less in an area that drives growth, especially when it’s likely to be such a small part of the pot. commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-brief…

If the rumours are right and the UK, almost unilaterally given current global trends, cuts R&D funding at this critical moment, we're going to drift even further behind in economic growth, soft power, education, science, research, engineering, you name it .....

@fesshole I can’t stand people like this. If you don’t have the initiative to find out where you can be helpful and do it you’ll always be in the same crap job until one day they get rid of you. Stop blaming your manager for not making you do what you should be doing yourself.

I have a job. But also don't have a job. I turn up at the office every day, always on time, ready to work. Except there's no work for me. And yes, I do ask for something to do. I basically get paid over £44k to sit at a desk scrolling through social media & watching Netflix.
