@Marshrail 1/ Can you cite what fortunes were lost. I know it's a figure of speech, but a reminder that companies like Stagecoach set up separate companies to take their stakes. Thatcher, then Major told us, the private sector would be taking the risk. This turned out never to be the case.

TODAY marks the 30th anniversary of Railtrack being floated on the stock market. Fortunes were made and lost. Far more importantly lives were lost in the dash for commerciality at the expense of safety in what was arguably the worst privatisation of the Conservative Government.

Ffs just phone your supplier whose details are on the lorry and have a suitable conversation. Turns out he is sleeping in that cab while blocking the pavement. He is NOT delivering anything except inconvenience.

No surprises with this decision, but Alliance Rail's bid for services between London Waterloo and Marchwood via Southampton has been turned down by ORR ORR claim it is not "operationally deliverable or financially viable" More to come in @RAIL

Another sickening piece of vandalism.... 125 Group power car and carriage with extensive graffiti at the East Lancs Railway. Railway say it was a calculated act of destruction against irreplaceable heritage assets cared for by volunteers. Info to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
